AeroTech Research - Wake Vortex Atmospheric Profile Generation Algorithm
The algorithm was developed to provide the meteorological profiles as inputs to the NASA Wake Vortex Advisory System (WakeVAS), which is in development.
The algorithm uses a sliding statistics window within the region of interest to generate the profiles of the key meteorological parameters (wind speed, wind direction, temperature, and EDR).
Quality measurements of static temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and eddy dissipation rate (EDR) for approach and departure corridors are not available for aircraft wake vortex measurement systems.

 4-1
For example, atmospheric turbulence, wind, wind shears, thermal stratification, updrafts, and the proximity of the wake to the ground all affect wake vortex decay and motion.
Although wake vortexes subside naturally as they move away from the aircraft, strong wake vortexes from landing aircraft have been known to rip tiles from roofs and have even broken the mast of a tall ship near the approach path of a landing aircraft.
The decay rate and motion of a wake vortex are strongly affected by weather and other factors, which make its location, size, and strength difficult to predict.

Lyke Wake Walk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Lyke Wake Walk was started by a local farmer, Bill Cowley, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England, in 1955.
The walk took its name from the Lyke Wake Dirge, probably Yorkshire's oldest dialect verse, which takes its name from the watching (wake) over the corpse (lyke) The song tells of the soul's passage through the afterlife.
He concentrated on the west to east route because the prevailing wind came from the west, in principle making it easier to walk with the wind on one's back and with the heather lying away from the walker.

Wind power maps for the Pacific Islands are presented by island group - for Guam and the Marshalls ( Map 3-66), the northern Marianas ( Map 3-67), the Carolines and American Samoa ( Map 3-68), and the isolated islands of Midway, Wake, and Johnston ( Map 3-69).
Prevailing strong winds at Livingston, Whitehall, and Cody are primarily from the southwest quadrant, in alignment with the orientation of the valley corridors.
Average wind speeds may vary significantly from one ridge crest to another and are primarily influenced by the height and slope of the ridge, orientation to the prevailing winds, and the proximity of other mountains and ridges.

Wake Vortex Behaviour in the Sheared Boundary Layer
The influence of three-dimensional wind-shear layers (jets) on the transport and decay of a counter-rotating vortex pair is investigated by means of direct numerical simulation.
The upstream vortex with vorticity opposing the vorticity of the upper shear layer of the jet starts to erode when it touches the upper flank of the turbulent jet, whereas the downstream vortex remains unaffected until it interacts with the lower shear layer below the jet maximum.
Contrarily, mutually independent dissolution of each vortex is observed when the jet is turbulent.

 St. Thomas Wake
Thomas Wake is the name of a pavan by the English composer John Bull, which appeared in Parthenia, the famous collection of music for virginals which was published in 1611.
Thomas Wake Maxwell Davies has described as 'projection' of the pre-existing material (the pavan) 'through a progressive series of mathematical curves, which affect it much as, in visual terms, would distorting mirrors of systematically varying degrees of convexity and concavity'.
Thomas Wake could, for instance, evoke the sinking of the Titanic, in which music and dancing reportedly continued in the ship's ballroom long after the impact with the iceberg.

Pig tweetered happily in agreement before Ron shoved one last owl treat in his mouth and pushed him out the window, whereupon he dropped several feet under the weight of the letter before finally catching wind under his wings and started flying haphazardly toward the Ravenclaw wing of the castle.
Pig promptly dropped a letter on Ron's head and continued to flutter madly around the room, bouncing off random objects now and then, all the while, tweetering enthusiastically, apparently very happy he had woken Ron up.
Ron lured Pig away from his bouncing reflection in Harry's glasses with some owl treats and tied the note to his small leg.

This was a token of the apostle's gratitude for Hereward sparing the abbot and returning part of the treasure to the saint's own abbey of Peterborough.
Then St Peter sent a wolf (St Peter animal) to show them the way, and as darkness fell, lighted candles appeared on every tree and on every man's shield, burning steadily no matter how the wind blew.

The film is considered to be suitable for 15 plus, however, outside the ugliness in the scenes of maiming and disfigurement, there is nothing which is beyond the comprehension of early teen-agers and I would thoroughly recommend the whole family view what is after all, real life, real time, everybody should know, type drama.

Nausicaä is different from other people because she has a empathic bond with the environment, and with the race of giant insects called the Ohmu that have evolved in the wake of the ecological disaster that swept the Earth.
From one of these periphery states, the Valley of Wind, comes a gentle young princes named Nausicaä.

 Park Effect
As we saw in the previous section on the wake effect, each wind turbine will slow down the wind behind it as it pulls energy out of the wind and converts it to electricity.
As a rule of thumb, turbines in wind parks are usually spaced somewhere between 5 and 9 rotor diameters apart in the prevailing wind direction, and between 3 and 5 diameters apart in the direction perpendicular to the prevailing winds.
With knowledge of the wind turbine rotor, the wind rose, the Weibull distribution and the roughness in the different directions manufacturers or developers can calculate the energy loss due to wind turbines shading one another.

The primary mechanisms that allow for reduced aircraft spacing for wake avoidance are the movement of the wake out of the path of the following aircraft, either due to the normal sinking of the wake or due to advection by the wind, and the decay of the wake due to such factors as ground effects.
The AWAS is an automated algorithm that takes wind profile measurements from several sensors, each of which have varying updates rates, data collection periods, resolutions, and data quality.
To account for these differences, a statistical technique based on the Gauss-Markov Theorem is used compute the profile of wind values.

The squall behaves like a strong downrush of air, fanning out from a point right under the clouds, adding to the average wind in front and subtracting from the wind in back." "Except when it doesn't," said the racer/pilot.
