Inch of mercury - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Inches of mercury, inHg or "Hg is a non-SI unit for pressure.
The resulting altimeter readings are known as flight levels.
Piston engine aircraft with constant-speed propellers also use inHg to measure manifold pressure, which is indicative of engine power produced.

 Effects of Barometric Pressure
This is usually measured in inches (inHg) or in millibars (1 inHg equals 33.864 millibars).
World records vary from a high pressure of 32.0 inHg in Siberia to 25.7 inHg during a typhoon (both readings are off the scale of most barometers).
When it comes to fishing, a change of just +/- 0.02 inHg from normal is enough to effect their feeding habits.

Configuring MAP Channel to display inHg & PSI? - Innovate Motorsports Forum
I've got all the connections right, and logging data successfully, but the translation from inHg to PSI Boost seems to skew the actual data on the datalog.
It just doesn't seem right that when tuning from -20 inHg vacuum to 20 PSI boost should require a channel to be reconfigured manually.
It might be easy enough to just add another MAP sensor and get used to looking at 2 different traces when vacuum gets to 0 and boost starts at 0, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel, which as you've so eloquently pointed out, would be a programming nightmare.

 1-Wire Barometer
My recommendation is that you do not attempt to adjust the potentiometers of your barometer until you create a spreadsheet of local airport pressure vs your readings, and do this for a significant number of readings over a range of pressures.
Assuming the maximum desired pressure at sea level is 31.0 inHg, and the lowest is 28.0 inHg translated to 10,000 feet: 19.926 inHg.
MPX4115 output for 31.0 to 28.0 inHg at 460 ft: 4.17 to 3.72 volts.

Due to the longer opening cycle the closed throttle body is still under pressure for longer and this pressure is noticeable on gear change by the revs blipping up before the begin to fall.
With the Jap Spring in the optimus, the DV Chatter is at least gone with this spring rate, this shows that the other springs were all too hard in my opinion.
I haven't checked the Optimus range of adjustment but in theory if its as wide as 20 InHg then the spring rate should start at 0.3 InHg on this valve as there is plenty to cover any requirement.

In this study, the factors controlling mercury uptake by algae were investigated in laboratory experiments with an axenic culture of Chlorella ellipsoidea.
InHg uptake was observed at high sulfide concentrations, where InHg was calculated to be in the form of HgS22- and HgS2H- complexes, which could only be taken up by facilitated or active transport.
Surface adsorption of InHg and MeHg to algae was observed under many but not all conditions, suggesting that surface binding sites were specific to certain complexes.

Median drift rate of the units tested was -0.007 hPa (-0.0002 inHg) per year over the fifteen-year test period.
Traceable accuracy is better than 0.1 hPa or 0.003 inHg at the test pressure.
Short-term repeatability of the pressure standard is approximately 0.02 hPa or 0.0006 inHg, and long-term systematic effects may total another 0.02 hPa or 0.0006 inHg.

Your barometer is undoubtedly scaled in inches of mercury - properly abbreviated to inHg' (with only the 'H' a capital letter).
The pressure values of 28 inHg and 31 inHg roughly equate to 950 hPa and 1050 hPa respectively (see pressure units), a range that includes the minimum and maximum values of atmospheric pressure encountered in the UK (see

 Sea-level Barometric Pressure Correction
Because the air pressure decreases as you rise in altitude, the sea-level corrected pressure (the pressure your location would be at if located at sea-level) is generally higher than your measured pressure.
Thus, your pressure may read 28.62 inHg (969 mb) at an altitude of 1000 feet (305 m), but the corrected pressure is 30.00 inHg (1016 mb).
Pressure conditions greater than 29.92 inHg (1013 mb) are considered high pressure and less than are considered low pressure.
