Guide - Marijuana: The Hidden Hazards Drug Abuse Intervention Addiction Treatment Education Videos   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
In the opening of the tape, Dr. Inabe declares that there is now a "slew of evidence" that marijuana produces tolerance, causes withdrawal, and has all the hallmarks of an addictive substance.
Inabe also defines addiction as "continued use despite negative consequences." If a person continues using despite having lots of problems resulting from his or her use, this indicates chemical dependency.
Consider the different areas Dr. Inabe named: relationship problems, financial problems, physical and mental health problems.

Rediff On The NeT: Army gets a pat from Japanese rights expert
The absence of an international law to redress the grievances of victims of rape by military troops in various countries has galvanised human rights activists to take up the issue on a global scale.
But renowned Japanese professor of law and former district judge Inabe Yasue, during a recent visit to India as part of her study of international law on rape claims, has given a clean chit to the Indian Army.
Dr Yasue told United News of India that she had found during her research that the Indian armed forces were among the most civilised as they were never accused of raping East Pakistani [now Bangladeshi] women during the 1971 war with Pakistan.

Acer palmatum 'Red Select' - UBC Botanical Garden Forums
I actually feel that it is easiest to separate out Inabe shidare as its color will hold and it does not show that wide intermixing of reds and greens that Red Select, Ever Red, and Oregon Garnet will show.
Vertrees was in an area of Oregon where he would not have likely seen good color on all of these forms, providing he even had all of them.
It will be more interesting if the difference coming from trees in different growing cultures but sharing the same name (for example Inabe shidare in Japan and in the US) is more significant than that of from different cultivars (for example Inabe shidare and Garnet) growing in close enough cultures (for example in Southern Oregon).
