  Incantation interview @ Tartareandesire.com
Incantation was one of the early death metal bands on the American continent and formed in August of 1989.
The two founding members John McEntee and Paul Ledney played together in a band called Revenant but since they were not very happy about the current direction of musical development of Revenant they formed their own band where they could make their dreams of blasphemous concepts and brutality come true.
I have seen Incantation called a founder/innovator/etc. of the so-called New York style of Death Metal and I have also seen indications that the band is from either Pennsylvania or Ohio [contact information shows both PA and OH on the band's website].

 CMT.com : Incantation : Biography
Incantation has all of the ingredients that death metal and grindcore enthusiasts crave: insanely fast tempos, an obsession with Satanism and the Occult, and choked, grunting, evil-sounding vocals--in other words, everything that is guaranteed to intimidate mainstream audiences and frighten them away.
Incantation was founded by guitarist John McEntee in Western Pennsylvania in 1990; that year, McEntee assembled the band's original lineup and hired Will Rahmer (founder of the death metal unit Mortician) as lead vocalist.
Incantation's subsequent Relapse albums included Mortal Throne of Nazarene in 1994, Upon the Throne of Apocalypse in 1996, Forsaken Mourning of Angelic Anguish in 1997 and Diabolical Conquest in 1998.

For bands that have been recording for any decent length of time, it should be possible to chart their musical development.
As band members evolve and devolve, join and leave, suffer bouts of rock-bottom depression and soaring apogees of creativity, and everything else that goes along with being in a group, one expects to be able to see the effects of this on the music.
Incantation have always been willing to play with song structure a little, slowing down when necessary and to provide balance to their mainstay: the hyperblast.

Undoubtedly the first Death Metal band to break out of Poland onto the world stage, Vader have managed to throw off accusations of being mere Morbid Angel copy-ists and instead have risen to become one of the most respected and enduring of bands, through a constant round of high quality releases and extensive touring.
Formed in Poland in 1986, it was three years before the band's 'Necrolust' demo saw them attain the attention of the underground, and led to the band's now infamous 'Morbid Reich' cassette release via the Polish Carnage Records, a release which legend has it was one of the biggest selling Death Metal demos/cassettes ever.
Mixing up Morbid Angel technicality with the heaviness of 'Harmony Corruption' era Napalm Death saw the band rise in popularity, even theough most fans had no idea that the album was recorded twice after the initial tapes were found to be lacking.
