Seoul Subway Line 1 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway links central Seoul, South Korea to Uijeongbu Bukbu Station in the northeast, Guro and Incheon Stations in the southwest, and Suwon and Cheonan Stations in the south.
It is the second station in the Seoul Subway system to be opened with operating platform screen doors.
The line first opened in 1974 between Seoul Station and Cheongnyangni Station, the only underground portion of the line (7.8 km).

Mejiro Station is a short walk from the home of James and Haruko Kuffner.
As we walked from the house to the Mejiro train station to start our journey home, I finally remembered to take a picture of this little Shinto shrine, on the left, which was about a block away.
We saw a couple of trains zip past us at the station while we were waiting for our train, and most of the sound I heard was the whoosh of air it made.
