	independence day movie review, ID4, July 4th, 4th of july.
		Its the Fourth of July, the day America celebrates its Indepdence Day and a new power has surfaced hovering overhead the mighty cities of America and the world.
		Aliens arrive in many vast spaceships but bring absolute silence with no message or hint of their intentions (quite remiscent of the V television saga from the 80's).
		That is until the day that all hell lets loose in Washington DC.

		I suppose it is too much to hope that a movie featuring aliens attempting to conquer Earth actually achieve their goal.
		On July 4th, America's Independence Day, the planet unites to wage war against the seemingly impenetrable alien forces.
		What the aliens are attempting to do in the movie is really no different from what humans have been doing to each other for centuries, and what humans will do to other worlds as soon as we milk this world for all its worth.

		Independence Day is of course not interested in plot or characters, or even credibility because it is relying on its special effects to carry the day.
		Independence Day has limited ambitions and just about meets them, it's a shame that the target was set so low because with the good special effects and a plot this could have been a classic.

		People always put large comic icepacks on their heads and stagger around the apartment being churlishly funny to sunny, happy people, when in reality they would be serial vomiting for hours until they were happy to be down to the last of their stomach bile.
		Why is it after a mad night out on the beer that nobody arrives home with vomit down the front of their shirts or at least some dirt on their clothes as they would have surly fallen on their way home.
		In movies people with problems always go and drive a car with an open beer can in their hand.

		Many people seem to have missed the joke in the plot, that the story is lifted from H. Well’s War of the Worlds, with his theme that the aliens have no natural resistance to Earth’s native viruses and so before they can kill everyone, they all die.
		The director and writers of Independence Day updated this theme giving it a twist by changing it from organic viruses to computer viruses with a similar last minute reprieve when all seems lost.
