Odd Fellows was established in Davis in 1870 —just five years after the end of the Civil War - and has been here longer than the City of Davis or the University of California at Davis.
The original Odd Fellows Lodge Hall was located on G Street in Downtown Davis, but was sold to the Masons many years ago and is presently occupied by offices and retail.
Over 80 members make Davis Odd Fellows the vibrant, exciting organization that it is. In 2007, with our newly remodeled Lodge Hall right in the heart of Davis, we intend to continue to enjoy each other’s company, and to be active and involved in our community.

There were many orders of Odd Fellows in England at the beginning of the nineteenth century, of which the Imperial Odd Fellows of Nottingham; the Ancient Noble Odd Fellows, Bolton; the Grand United Odd Fellows, Sheffield; Economical Odd Fellows, Leeds; National Odd Fellows, Salford; and the London United Odd Fellows were the principal ones.
In 1803 the London Union Odd Fellows Society was organized by some of the city lodges under the title of the Grand Lodge of England, and it succeeded in establishing its authority over the greater part of the Odd Fellow societies in the United Kingdom.
Fraternal groups such as the Odd Fellows were suppressed in England for a time, but by 1803 the Odd Fellows were revived by an organization called "London Union Odd Fellows," which later became known as the "Grand Lodge of England" and assumed authority over all Odd Fellow lodges in that country.

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a secret fraternal, benefit society, founded in England sometime during the second quarter of the 18th century.
The duties enjoined upon Odd Fellows are to visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan.
One IOOF member, Augustus Mathiot, applied for membership in a Masonic Lodge and was denied membership there because he belonged to that "Bacchanalian Club of Odd Fellows." Mathiot thereafter successfully campaigned to have his brethren adopt middle class reforms, particularly temperance.

This imposing three-story brick structure was designed and built by Oliver S. Compton for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge #103, as evidenced by the 1927 cornerstone at the building's northwest corner.
The Odd Fellows Lodge occupied the upper level of the building in some capacity until 1949, and the structure continued to serve as a lodge and meeting room for various groups well into the 1970s, when occupancy was restricted to the ground level for safety reasons.
