Hitler brought to the helm of the Independent State of Croatia Ante Pavelic, a Croatian emigre in Italy and the founder of the illegal fascist organization Croatian Ustasha Movement.
On 28 December 1993, a large commemoration of Ante Pavelic, the fascist leader of the clerical and fascist Independent State of Croatia from 1941-1945, was held in Zagreb.
The rehabilitation of the Independent State of Croatia and the Ustashe is assuming worrisome proportions and is manifested through a flood of Ustasha symbols and photographs of Ustasha criminals.

After all, it was thanks to Hitler's invasion of Yugoslavia that the "Independent State of Croatia" was set up in April 1941, with Bosnia-Herzegovina (whose population was mostly Serb at the time) as part of its territory.
And the hit song of 1991, when Croatia once again declared its independence from Yugoslavia and began driving out Serbs, was "Danke Deutschland" in gratitude to Germany's strong diplomatic support for Zagreb's unnegotiated secession.

Yes, but NDH also did not include Dalmatia, a part of Croatia in which out statehood and culture had been formed, because in the Rome contracts these territories were ceded to Italy.
In order to ensure the survival of the state we had to compromise, but I am convinced that the Croatian Jews fared much better that their co-religionists in other European states.
