As it stands, the movie is waylaid by its prolonged second act: a creaky, fish-out-of-water odyssey in which the dogged, 70-ish Munro travels to America to race his modified 1920 Indian Scout motorbike at Utah's famed Bonneville Salt Flats.
The World's Fastest Indian is also filled with so many false obstacles it feels like "the movie that cried wolf." Given how often Munro's old age, weak heart, and bad prostate are referenced, you'd expect at least some kind of dramatic consequences, but they're barely speed bumps.
The actors unanimously paint the writer/director as an earthy, ebullient force, with everyone (but Hopkins, that is) proclaiming the film's Oscar-winning lead to be an acting genius.
