In Indiana, 19 percent of those age 25 and older have a bachelor's degree or higher; nationwide, the figure raises to 24 percent, according to Census 2000.
Not surprisingly, Monroe and Tippecanoe counties have the most renter occupied housing as a percentage of all occupied housing (46 percent and 44 percent, respectively), while the remaining three counties are between 31 percent and 33 percent.
However, all five counties exceed the state in the percent of renter-occupied units where the gross rent is 35 percent of household income or more, and they rank first through fifth among all 92 counties on this measure.

Indiana is the fourteenth largest state in the nation with a population of 5.9 million people.
Most of the Indiana county sheriff's and police departments responding to the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) National Drug Threat Survey 2000, as well as those interviewed by telephone, report that, on average, 40 percent of the drug-related crime in their areas is committed by juveniles.
The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute also reports a significant history of drug abuse among 70 to 80 percent of criminal offenders and estimates that more than 25 percent of adult males are incarcerated for crimes directly related to drugs or alcohol.

Hamilton County’s growth outpaced all other Indiana counties; the state as a whole, which grew by 9.7 percent; and the nation, which grew by 13.2 percent.
Marion County’s population growth exceeded what previously released estimates had indicated when the county’s 1999 population was estimated to be 811,000.

The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) was established in 1957 for the betterment of county government.
AIC's purposes and goals are to seek the betterment of county government through: representation of counties at the Indiana General Assembly; research and dissemination of information; communications through publications and seminars; professional training and educational programs; liaison between counties, state and federal agencies; and technical and managerial assistance.
While there are a number of agencies and groups offering assistance to county government, AIC is the only entity that represents the legislative needs of Indiana counties.
