 Indiana Firebirds - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Indiana Firebirds were a team in the Arena Football League.
On September 20, 2004, the date of the announced sales deadline, the Arena Football League announced the termination of the Firebirds franchise and that the players would be made available to continuing AFL teams in an expansion draft.
This move was ultimately disapproved, and the roster of former Firebirds players were made available in the dispersal draft conducted on October 14, 2004, marking the end of one of the AFL's longest-running franchises.

Indiana Firebirds owner Dave Lageschulte said today that the Arena Football League team has been shut down after four years in Indianapolis.
Firebirds General Manager John Kolner said the league told him it is extending the deadline for a potential buyer to Sept. 20.
The Firebirds are one of two AFL teams expected to announce that they will fold when the league's board of directors meet on Sept. 20.
