		I think the 60's are as big an influence on current indiepop bands as the 80's or 90's though.
		Some indiepop only labels (more recently Kindercore) have tried to broaden their field of action: do you see Matinée as an indiepop-devoted label or do you believe that in the future it may possibly publish different genres?
		While I primarily listen to indiepop music, my wife lived in Brazil for five years so we have a great collection of bossa nova and modern Brazilian music that we play around the house as well.

	BLISS/AQUAMARINE - ALTERNATIVE, UNDERGROUND AND INDIE MUSIC
		The other songs are much more indiepop, rather than powerpop, but The Arrogants are still unafraid to inject a bit of noise into the songs when they feel like it.
		Origami are a three-piece all-female indiepop band who sometimes sound upbeat with shouty bits and quite a quirky feel, and sometimes do early 90s style indiepop.
		Testing Societies is indiepop with synth and jangly guitar, a bit like some of the music on late-period Sarah, but in the middle they throw in a 70s style rock riff which is quite unexpected.

		i would define my band as indiepop only if that was the closet thing on a list of genres, i personally don't like to define our band because we are a band in movement and i would rather avoid labels that could keep us from writing new songs that fit into a set genre.

		Fanzines and a DIY ethic, something that has resurfaced recently with the underground music and arts scene, were particularly important to indiepop and the artwork will reflect this with the original artwork for many of the singles plus fanzines and badges from the time.
		Featuring four tracks from the compilation from Juniper Moon, Aberfeldy, Primal Scream and Josef K - the last two will be available on 7" for the first time since their original releases in 1985 and 1981 respectively.

		"Rough Trade Shops: Indiepop 1" is the latest in a series of fantastic compilations that began in Feb 2001 with Rough Trade Shops 25 Years, a box set celebrating 25 years of the opening of the first Rough Trade Shop in Kensington Park, West London.
		Since then, Mute has released Rough Trade Shops compilations dedicated to Electronic music, Rock And Roll, the best of 2002 and 2003, Post Punk and Country, all compiled by the Rough Trade Shops staff.
		Some of the bands will be familiar in other guises, Stereolab were formed from the ashes of McCarthy whilst others, such as The Vaselines, went on to influence the likes of Nirvana (who famously covered Molly's Lips, the track included on this compilation).

		My life revolves around music, and the center of my musical universe is indiepop.
		It harkens back to mid-sixties pop like the Byrds, the Beatles, the Association, the Zombies, etc. Twee is a British slang word that was applied to a lot of the indiepop genre -- it's kind of derogatory and means something like overly cute and dainty.
		I think it came from the word "sweet" said like baby talk.
