Transcutaneous pin for fixation of a bone part or fragment - Patent 4978350
In a modification the flutes are disposed helicoidally in relation to the axis of the thread, with the helix and the thread being pitched in the same direction.
A pin of claim 3 wherein the leading code of the threading is preceded by a rod of diameter equal to or smaller than the inner thread diameter of the threaded portion, said rod terminating in a flat drill tip having the shape of an ogive.
The invention likewise comprises a transfixing pin in which the leading cone of the thread is preceded by a rod of a diameter equal to or less than the inner diameter of the thread of the threaded portion, with said rod terminating in a flat ogive-shaped drill tip.

Forth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some Forth versions (especially early ones) compile threaded code, but many implementations today generate optimized machine code like other language compilers.
The fastest modern Forths use subroutine threading, insert simple words as macros, and perform peephole optimization or other optimizing strategies to make the code smaller and faster.
The classical "indirect threaded" implementations compile lists of addresses of words to be executed in turn; many modern systems generate actual machine code (including calls to some external words and code for others expanded in place).

Class Definition for Class 122 - LIQUID HEATERS AND VAPORIZERS
The heat may be applied directly to the walls of the fluid containing chamber or indirectly by the interposition of a fluid in a distinct and separate chamber, which fluid being heated may impart its heat to the fluid to be finally heated.
for a threaded fastener and nut having stay bolt spacer sleeve; subclass 370 for a threaded fastener and nut having a stay bolt bearing washer; subclasses 379+ for a threaded stay bolt, per se; and subclass 505 for an unthreaded stay bolt, per se.
Subject matter comprising heating means applied directly or indirectly to the wall of the fluid containing chamber, where the fluid is water, to provide hot water for domestic or household use (e.g., cooking, cleaning, washing, bathing, space heating, etc.).

Multi-threading in .NET: Introduction and suggestions
A thread (or "thread of execution") is a sort of context in which code is running.
The thread pool can only run so many jobs at once, and some framework classes use it internally, so you don't want to block it with a lot of tasks which need to block for other things.
That thread counts from 0 to 9 fairly fast (about twice a second) while the main thread counts from 0 to 4 fairly slowly (about once a second).

Creating a thread in XFC is easy because unlike other C++ thread implementations, your not required to derive a new class or override any virtual functions.

U.S. Patent: 5004368 - Pivot arm for apparatus, particularly medical apparatus - April 2, 1991
In the known pivot arm the tension adjusting device has, as the tensioning element that is stationary relative to the spring housing, a loose annular disc sitting on the solid connecting rod, and as a spring support stationary on the rod, an adjusting nut threaded on the threaded end section of the connecting rod.
For weight compensation of the medical apparatus intended to be clamped to the mounting support 18, a helical compression spring 86 is provided which sits on the first connecting rod 66 and fits into the four-sided tube 12 that serves as the spring housing.
A graspable rotary knob 116 that is similar to a hand wheel is mounted on the threaded bar 114 outside of the four-sided tube 12, which knob 116 is mounted on the tube 12 so as to be rotatable but axially immovable.

 Forth programming language
Forth is a computer programming environment developed by Chuck Moore[?] then at the US National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO[?]) during the 1960s, and later formalized as a programming language in 1977, and standardized by ANSI in 1994.
It features both interactive execution of commands (making it suitable as a shell for systems that lacked a more formal operating system), as well as the ability to compile sequences of commands into threaded code for later execution.
Forth is usually implemented with an inner interpreter tracing indirectly threaded machine code, which yields extremely compact and fast high level code which can be compiled rapidly.

If multiple threads will be getting the instance of a singleton class, you can use the Double Checked Locking coding pattern to ensure that only one instance is created while avoiding the overhead of unnecessary thread synchronization after the instance is created.
The Single Threaded Execution pattern is used to coordinate access by multiple threads to the hash table used by the Hashed Adapter Objects pattern.
The Single Threaded Execution Pattern can be used to keep transactions that modify the state of the same object isolated from each other, so that the modifications each transaction makes to the object’s state do not interfere with each other.

In the case of CM-derived EControl contexts, the CM initialization allows ECho to piggyback on the Connection Manager and use the thread of control which is used by CM for servicing the network.
For threaded programs, CM relies on the gen_threads package to provide a generic wrapper around threads libraries.

Somehow, concern about the lesser developed world, both directly from folks who raised questions, and indirectly threaded within the presentations of the speakers, was everywhere.
It was addressed in one way or another from almost every direction and perspective that you can imagine: religion, technology, politics, science, and of course, economics.
