		Individual events is a type of speech competition characterized by individuals competing in a variety of different events.
		This event covers a variety of topics, but the use of humor is central to the execution of the event.
		Individual events tournaments usually take from six to twelve hours to complete, with the longest tournaments lasting multiple days.

		The Texas Forensic Union Individual Events Team was founded in August of 1988 at the direction of Dr. Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Chair of the Department of Speech Communication.

		Randy Cox (Director and IE Instructor) is the current Executive Secretary of the Texas Speech Communication Association, former Executive Secretary and president of the Massachusetts Forensic League, and administrative director of the UT Individual Events Program.
		Randy served as Director and Co-Director of the IE Team from 1991-1994 before serving for five years as Co-Director of Boston's Milton Academy Speech Team.
