Wendy McElroy -- Facts, Info, and Encyclopedia article   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-29)
Individualist Feminists are considered anti-feminist by some feminists, and Wendy McElroy is well known for her opposition to some aspects of the feminist movement.
From the perspective of mainstream and radical feminists her positions are more reflective of anti-feminist values than feminist ones, and her positions on anarchism are more generally considered to be those of an (additional info and facts about anarcho-capitalist) anarcho-capitalist rather than than an individualist.
She has responded to the charge of anti-feminism by stating that her form of individualist feminism is representative of an alternative tradition of feminism rather than an attack on feminism as a whole.

Political Philosophy [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-29)
Methodological individualists seek to explain social actions and behavior in terms of individual action — and politically are known as individualists, whereas holists seek to explain behavior by considering the nature of the group.
Yet, if the rationalist is also an individualist, the paradox arises that individuals are united into the collective whole of rational beings (all individuals share reason), whereas irrationalism collapses into a plurality of individualistic epistemologies (all groups are ultimately composed of subjectivists).
Nonetheless, between individualists (who emphasize the sacred status of the individual) and collectivists (who emphasize the sacred status of the group) exist a panoply of schools of thought that derive their impetus from the philosophical shades — the gray overlapping areas, which are today found in the perpetual disputes between individualists and communitarians.

Amazon.com: Feminist Interpretations of Ayn Rand (Re-Reading the Canon): Books   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-29)
Rand's morphing in a feminist is the entire object of the book; hence the new term "Randian-Feminism." In "Looking Back," the essay "Ayn Rand: The Reluctant Feminist" is a nice piece of misinformation, since Rand was not a reluctant feminist.
"Feminist Rereadings of Rand's Fiction" is a tiresome attempt to squeeze meanings out of scenes and characters of Rand's books that she mostly never meant.
Further, Rand's self-identification as NOT a feminist does not mean that there is nothing in her work that can be applied to feminism, or from which feminism might benefit.

After the National Organization for Women (NOW) insisted that Andrea Yates had postpartum depression, the Individualist Feminists of Ifeminist.com pointed out that postpartum depression is quite common and most sufferers do not murder their children.
After Ifeminist.com pointed out that this stigmatized a large number of mothers and made them less likely to seek professional help, NOW removed their claims from their official website.

She is a niece of Laurance Labadie and helped me getting some writings by Joe Labadie and his son Laurance Labadie together for microfiching.
Alas, Laurance Labadie's essays, amounting almost to a small encyclopaedia on individualist anarchism, have, mostly, still to be readied for fiching by me. And much of his valuable correspondence remains still largely buried in the LABADIE COLLECTION, due to copyrights restrictions.
