I was under the impression that the slope proposed for Renfrew was the Braehead Xscape as the two places are only a few miles away from each other.
However, it seems there were two slopes proposed for the area near Glasgow Airport and one still on the cards for the Ravenscraig regeneration project.
The Ravenscraig slope is also on shaky grounds due to EU funding.

Giving some reason for optimism in this case is the fact that the person proposing to build the ski slope is a Dominican who hasn't completely forgotten his roots as a result of living in Germany.
I am sure for those that can afford to indulge their passion for the slopes and powder, they would welcome whole heartedly this proposal but other than the revenue that is generated and the Gov'ts cut which is debatable whether the people would see the benefits of at all.
The piece on TV regarding the proposed ski slope didn't mention what they would be skiing on.

In its quest for bigger, better and the most luxurious, Dubai is even defying nature, building an indoor ski slope, while summer temperatures outdoors shoot up to a scorching 42 degrees Celsius.
"This is only a prototype of what is yet to come...We are planning to construct a ski slope 600 metres long and 50 metres wide," said Yousef El Hindi of the Mohammed Al Otaiba Group, the company that is developing the project.
The slope, to be completed in two years at a cost of 32 million dollars, will be housed in an indoor ski resort made to rival the best in St. Moritz.
