Prah Ko, the funerary temple of Jayavarman II and of the ancestors of his second successor, Indravarman, is to be found just to the west of the track leading to Bakong, at 500 metres south of route 6.
After a homage to Shiva it gives a brief genealogy of Indravarman, and then his eulogy in accordingly grand terms "the right arm of the prince" reads the Sanskrit text "is long, strong, and fearsome in battle as his flashing sword falls on his enemies, defeating kings in every direction.
Resembles Preah Ko and was built in 893 by King Yasovarman I in tribute to his predecessor, Indravarman I. Once located in the middle of an artificial lake (now rice fields), the four brick towers are in poor condition.

The Cambodian monarchy was for a time itinerant in nature suggesting an analogy with the rise and fall of Mayan city-states, especially as it stabilized with the construction of irrigation works around the north western coast of Lake Tonle Sap, a large, deep widening of one of the tributaries of the Mekong River.
Indravarman I (877-889) was responsible for the first irrigation system for rice cultivation and for the stabilization of the Cambodian monarchy.
The architecture of the Khmer Roluos monuments were influenced by the towers and temples in Champa (central Vietnam).

 Angkor Wat Period Before 1000 A.D.
How Indravarman I ascended the throne still remains in mystery as he did not seem to have any connection with the two former kings.
Indravarman I built at least two primitive Khmer temples, namely the Preah Ko temple, devoted for his royal ancestral spirits, and the Bakong, a mountain temple dedicated for the Hindu gods.
These two temples with another later one Lolei are collectively known as the Roluos Group, and their architecture was more or less a pioneer to the later temples of the Angkor civilization.

Jaya Indravarman, the king of the Chams, presumptuous as Ravana, transporting his army in chariots, went to fight the country of Kambu, like to heaven.
He also killed the former Jaya Indravarman of Vijaya whom he made prisoner at Cambodia court and was probably sent by Jayavarman VII against him.
The war continued under the reign of king Indravarman III and involved a grand son of king Jaya harivarman I, Prince Angsaraja of Turai-vijaya, who had been raised at the court of Jayavarman VII and promoted by him in 1201 to the rank of Yuvaraja.

The tower to the left (south) was dedicated to King Indravarman's father (Prithivindreshvara), and the tower to the right (north) to his maternal grandfather (Rudreshvara).
It gives the genealogy of Indravarman and names the images in the 6 towers.
Similar inscriptions were found far to the to the south, and in other regions of Cambodia, indicating the territorial extent ruled by the king at this time.

After fifty years of reign that had allowed him to unify the country, Jayavarman II, perhaps discouraged by the difficulties of access and the poor potential for the cultural development of the settlement he had chosen - and its distance from the Great Lake - descended once again to its northern shores.
He died around 850 at Hariharalaya, the region of Roluos also adopted by first his son and then his nephew, Indravarman I. It was this king who built the artificial pyramid of Bakong - the first sandstone monument - and founded there in 881 the linga Shri Indresvara.
This was Yasodharapura, the first Angkor, where the "Vnam Kantal" or "Central Mount" of the inscriptions - identified after fervent research by Mr Goloubew with the hill of Phnom Bakheng - served as a base for the linga Shri Yasodharesvara, the master idol of the kingdom.

Under Jaya Indravarman IV, an usurper like the Khmer king, Champa launched attacks on Cambodia, which culminated in a maritime expedition that sailed up the Mekong to Tonle Sap and resulted in the capture and sack of Angkor and the death of the king.
In 1191 another Cham king, Jaya Indravarman V, was resisting the Khmers in Vijaya, north of Panduranga, but was defeated and killed by Suryavarman.
Suryavarman must have begun acting up, because the Khmers sent Jaya Indravarman IV, the captive king, to Champa, but he was killed by the erstwhile Cambodian ally, Suryavarman, who in 1192 tried to throw off the rule of Angkor.

So if the year of the Tirlingi plate belong to the referred, we have to presume that Vinayachandra was in active service from the year 28 or somethime previous to it, to the year 91 (date of the Parl¡kim®·I plates of Indravarman II) or sometime posterior to it.
