Industrial organization - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Industrial organization is the field of economics that studies the strategic behavior of firms, the structure of markets and their interactions.
Given that it was the first field that used game theory in economics, industrial organization has become the natural exporter of methodological tools to other branches of microeconomics, such as organization economics, corporate finance, information economics.

The Congress of Industrial Organizations, or CIO, was a federation of unions that organized industrial workers in the United States and Canada in 1935-1955.
Victorious industrial unions with militant leaderships, this was the catalyst that brought on the rise of the CIO.
The CIO’s major organizing drive of this era, Operation Dixie, aimed at the textile workers of the South, was a complete failure, due both to the social and political backwardness of the region and the CIO’s reluctance to confront Jim Crow.

 Industrial Organization Spanish exports
Assuming that neither imports nor exports are perfect substitutes for domestic goods, they develop an econometric model using a panel data approach to explain Spain's industrial exports to the Community.
The key determinants are the real effective exchange rate and EC(7) real value added, and also a `structural' component for each sector, which they capture by measures of `technological effort' (RandD expenditure plus payments for technological imports) and of advertising expenditures.
These results support the view that non-price factors significantly influence international competitiveness: in particular advertising expenditures and, to a lesser extent, technological effort are positively related to the performance of Spain's industrial exports to the rest of the Community.

This paper uses the structure-behavior-performance paradigm of "industrial organization" to shed light on the credit rating industry and to provide a framework for arranging initial observations and developing questions for further analysis.
A striking fact about the structure of the industry in the U.S. is its persistent fewness of incumbents.
A growing regulatory demand for ratings (for safety-and-soundness regulation by bank regulators, insurance regulators, pension fund regulators, and securities regulators) and a regulatory limitation on supply surely are contributory factors.
