		The League consists of two series, the IndyCar Series (usually considered synonymous with the Indy Racing League) and the Indy Pro Series, which is the developmental series for IndyCar.
		While the league's race broadcasts struggle to find an audience, this is counterbalanced by the improved and increased TV coverage and improving attendance at many events.
		Unlike road racing venues, the lack of run-offs on oval tracks, coupled with higher, sometimes far higher, speeds due to the long straightaways and symmetrical turns, means that there is simply far less margin for error.

		INDIANAPOLIS — All full-time Indy Racing League entrants will be allotted a total of 183 sets of Firestone Firehawk tires for the 2002 season, with 138 sets designated for race use, 15 sets for Open Tests and 30 sets for private testing, Indy Racing League Vice President of Racing Operations Brian Barnhart announced Friday.
		The new tire policy is in effect from Jan. 1, 2002, through Oct. 31, 2002, and replaces previous Indy Racing League regulations, which allocated tires for all events but did not restrict the number of tires available for testing.
		RICHMOND, Va. — The Indy Racing League will go to Michigan and Pennsylvania for the first time as part of its 14-race schedule next year, The schedule is the most extensive for the six-year-old circuit, which expanded this season to 13 races.
