Disco Inferno was a band formed in Essex in the late 1980s by Ian Crause (guitar and vocals), Paul Wilmott (bass), Rob Whatley (drums) and Daniel Gish (keyboards).
Their first album, Open Doors, Closed Windows, was released in 1991 on Che and received positive reviews, although most mentioned the heavy influence of late 1970s post punk bands, particularly Joy Division and Wire (In fact Disco Inferno's manager, Michael Collins, had previously managed Wire during their 70's incarnation).
Unlike many of the post rock bands Disco Inferno were labelled alongside, the music on D.I. Go Pop was harsh and concise, with Crause's vocals (often buried in the mix) concerning frustration rather than bliss.

Album producers Lukas Kendall and Nick Redman managed to acquire nearly the entire score for presentation on this album, and although a few incidental cues were lost due to damage, the CD contains twice the amount of music as the original LP.
The packaging of the album is nothing short of spectacular, explaining the complexities of the film's production and a cue by cue analysis, along with intriguing concept art and a fascinating, if not spooky, picture of the entire major cast of 10 walking arm in arm down the studio lot.
Overall, this is the The Towering Inferno album that Williams fans have been dreaming about for decades, and it is by far the crowning achievement of Film Score Monthly's growing enterprise of Silver Age Classics albums.

Disco Inferno: D.I. Go Pop - PopMatters Music Review
You'd read quotes about how their album was unlike anything anybody had done before, how utterly incredible it was, but if you lived in North America, far away from a good record store, the only thing you would know about Disco Inferno's album D.I. Go Pop would be its distinctive cover art.
As ignored as Disco Inferno was in North America, the band, surprisingly enough, didn't get heaps of press in the UK, either, as the album was completely shut out when the major publications made their year-end lists.
Disco Inferno has long since departed, and were sadly overlooked by most people (including yours truly) a decade ago, but now, with this new re-release, it's high time we all gave this most innovative band the recognition they so dearly deserve.

No two albums sound alike (so just because you like one, doesn’t mean you’ll like them all), but every album, has left a huge impact on the gothic/Industrial music scene.
Unfortunately, Inferno is a bit incoherent and somewhat boring, although it was still better than some of the other electronic albums released in mid to late 2002.
Inferno also strangely seems to stray away from one of the hallmark's of Project Pitchfork's sound: Peter Spilles' ability to create a large variety in the way lyrics are delivered.

That would be the only complaint about this album since it makes it difficult to follow the story since it's doubtfull that the average listener is fluent in all four langauges.
