Do As Infinity - NEW WORLD
They've had three great singles since their last album, yet we were forced to wonder if they were ready to put out a new album or not.
It's peculiar for the album to be named after a song featured on the album that is not original to that album.
On one hand, the album does get the job done - It's a collection of music, summarizing all of the group's releases since their first album, but normally you just expect an artist to make more new music than this when they release a new album.

Being recorded at the height on Devin’s emotional instability this album is a chaotic dive into a mind that has knows no boundaries.
With this album you can hear more and more of Devin’s 80’s roots coming through…mainly in the vocals, his vocal talent is more evident on this recording, going from his well known growls and screams to perfectly controlled clean vocals with amazing power.
Lyrically this album is also a little hard to classify.

Infinity On High - Fall Out Boy, Music Downloads - Online
So it's in weird contrast to these sentiments that Jay-Z is the one opening the album and calling out haters who said FOB would fail.
But this is contradicted by the fact that the album's majority is far and away their poppiest material to date, more pop/rock than pop-punk, which inevitably means more interesting to those who know them just as that "Dance, Dance" band with the media-whoring bassist, Pete Wentz.
The Maroon 5-ish "I'm Like a Lawyer..." is glaringly one of the Babyface-produced tracks, and with a vocal hook uncomfortably close to Phil Collins' cover of "Groovy Kind of Love," it plays like the guys were the ruffled house band for a prom.

Infinity (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Journey's fourth album, Infinity, was released in January of 1978 on the Columbia Records label.
His tenure in the band was short-lived, as he was replaced by Steve Perry.
This album also marked the last appearance of drummer Aynsley Dunbar as a member of the band.

As "Dead Flag Blues," the album's first track, unfolds, the speaker's voice is undercut by a poignant string melody and the piece builds to a beautiful peak.
A theme is stated, followed by a quiet interlude out of which the tension builds to disaster/epiphany and finally a quiet reprise of the initial melody is given.
"Providence" is the album's final piece, a bit longer than the others, but lacking the consistency and unity of its counterparts.

Do As Infinity - TRUE SONG
The previous album, "Deep Forest", was named by translating the title of their single "fukai mori" to English.
This new album has a whopping eight new songs, with only three old songs used from their two singles released prior to the album.
However, most of the new tracks on this album are tired-sounding DAI tracks, and the two singles prior to the album were not some of the group's best.

Biffy Clyro - Infinity Land : album review
Album opener Glitter And Trauma sets the tone - initially pretending to be some piece of Warp electronic, then embracing those jerky guitars Franz Ferdinand have recently annexed and finally hitting you with the actual song, a kind of rock/grunge/punk hybrid that people like the Foo Fighters have perfected.
You're left with that feeling a lot on Infinity Land, a sense of what could have been if the band had been slightly less afraid to take songs down the more interesting and less well-travelled musical path.
This is an album with an identity crisis.

Evolution (Journey album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Journey's fifth studio album, Evolution, was released in April of 1979 on the Columbia Records label.
Journey continued its streamlined approach to songwriting and the result would be their highest charting album yet.
The album featured their first top 20 hit in "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", which is still featured prominently in the current tours, even being used often as the encore.

Monster Magnet : Dopes to Infinity - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Expecting Monster Magnet to change from art-sludge-psych monsters into sweet cuddlebunnies from album to album clearly demonstrates a loss of reason.
Wyndorf himself doesn't need to worry about losing his reason in particular, given how psychotically entertaining his band already is, and Dopes to Infinity is about as far apart from Superjudge as the original Siamese twins were to each other.
It's the secret weapon of the album as a whole, turning Monster Magnet's gift for the large scale into something that's almost uplifting, often connecting with a listener instead of dominating one.

Studio album number four from FOB is an easy-on-the-ears collection of pop punk/rock tracks sure to please any fan of popular music.
Well, this became pretty obvious upon hearing the album's opener, "Thriller", but I don't know if it's accurate to say that Jay-Z guests on it when all he's doing is talking at the beginning and end of the song.
While Infinity On High isn't necessarily anything to run and tell a friend about, it's still solid enough to be worth your while.

Infinity Land is the latest release from Biffy Clyro and I would say their best.
You may begin to doubt the album if you are new to the band but the rewards for repeat listening are huge - the album reveals itself to be a truly superb piece of work and, in my opinion, the best of 2004.

The Album itself ranked 21 on the charts, and at the time of its release it was Journey's biggest album.
All throughout "Infinity," Journey introduces us to their unique stylings; soft keyboard and piano arrangements (specialty of Greg Rollie) combined with profound rhythms and beats (thanks to Ross Valory and Aynsley Dunbar, who soon departed after this set's release), matched with Steve Perry's uncomparable vocals and Neal Schon's classically trained guitars.

It is symbolic that when a battle is won and victory is declared on the battlegronds, the doube that existed before is washed away and the bright brilliant sunlight is able to shine again, not only on her face, but in her heart.
It seems to be a concept running through this album, that the simplicity of the past is comforting for someone who deals with the confusion of the modern day world.
The album tells us a story from Middle Age that includes Kings and Queens, Wizards, Battles, but it was not intended to be a concept album in the beginning.

Fall Out Boy: 'Infinity on High' - Cadenza
One of the greatest highlights of "Infinity on High" is not an irresistibly catchy song like "Dance, Dance" or "Sugar, We're Goin' Down." Instead it is "Golden," a poignant ballad placed in the middle of the album.
The album is full of great pop songs such as "THNKS Fr TH MMRS." In this song, Stump sings with a boyish glee that makes it irresistible.
The ability of "Infinity on High" to remain creative throughout is highlighted in numerous songs.

I listened three albums by him so far, from which I find "Accelerated Evolution" the only acceptable one, but even this one can't really fascinate me. The only track listenable here for me is "Unity", "Christeen" is a terribly commercial one and the rest terribly noisy.
The journey of the human soul in it's purest and most raw form through life, that's what this is. From the birth to the midlife crisis to the calm at the end of life, this has it all.
So basically, this album breaks down into two halves: the first four songs, which are the more accessible and more satisfying songs, and the next five having more focus on crazy layering and a rather divine feel.

The album starts out with an energetic kick fueled by Jay-Z’s cool intro, addressing the previously mentioned “haters.” “Thriller” is just but one of the very good and cool sounding songs on an album filled to the brim.
The album just continues to chug along with song after song that could be a hit.

That album is Infinity and, when it was released in 1978, it showcased the vocal talents of a before-then unknown talent named Steve Perry.
But, in the true A side B side effect of albums from the 70's, Infinity gave a hint of what was to come for Journey, as well as showing how the band could sometimes experiment with new sounds, new ideas, new directions.
Nothing really special here, but a reflection of the entire album, the direction Journey was taking, and the continued vocal mastery by Perry.

Fall Out Boy: Infinity On High - Features
The band's album starts to sell, the band gets signed to a major label, they produce an album or two, and then everyone claims they sold out and forgot where they came from.
The question now is whether or not Fall Out Boy has fallen into the same mold as other bands whose fans listen to their albums, but just complain about how they are no longer as good as they used to be.
With Infinity on High, one can only have high hopes, for one of the producers on the album was none other than Jay-Z. With a name that big working on your record, your band better produce at least a mediocre album.

Returning to the airwaves stronger than ever, Fall Out Boy’s fourth studio album, “Infinity on High,” storms the charts and indulges fans with catchy and infectious tracks.
New on this album, collaborations with such names as Jay-Z and Babyface hint at an old school hip-hop vibe on tracks like “This Ain’t a Scene” and “Thnks fr th Mmrs” (shorthand for “Thanks for the Memories”).
Gliding through a variety of genres for influence, the boys defy the pop-punk boundaries of previously released albums as they achieve a new status in the hierarchy of the music world.

Steve Perry's first album (Journey's fourth) and Journey's first successful album, "Infinity," is quite a great start for Perry considering he initially gave up on the idea of being a rock star.
Track one, "Lights," is one of the groups best (and probably Perry's best on this album), not only because of Neal Schon's wailing guitar solo but because of Steve Perry's "trademark" 'whoa oo whoa ohh ohh ohh!' in between verses, and the best part of the song is the bridge.
> Steve Perry's first album (Journey's fourth) and >Journey's first successful album, "Infinity," is quite >a great start for Perry considering he initially gave >up on the idea of being a rock star.

Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High : album review
In their interview for musicOMH.com Chicago's Fall Out Boy have distanced themselves from the loosely defined style, preferring to be thought of as a straight ahead rock band instead.
They've netted a big fish in Jay-Z for a guest appearance, but his contribution is over if you blink a little too hard after pressing play, little more than a lazy, cursory intro to the rat-a-tat explosion of Thriller.
So while Infinity On High has some interesting diversions from the standard quiet verse-loud chorus formula, and attempts with the bigger songs to put some money where its mouth is, it ultimately winds up being a set of mostly derivative tunes that we've heard elsewhere.
