  Journal of Informetrics - Elsevier
Journal of Informetrics also welcomes certain papers from researchers who do not consider themselves as informetrists, for example research papers would be considered on the graph-theoretic description of networks.
In general the journal aims to contribute to increasing the degree of "hardness" of the field, and to increase the degree of "exactness" of the scientific field of informetrics.
The journal covers informetrics and considers it to comprise (or at least to include) fields such as bibliometrics, scientometrics, webometrics and cybermetrics.

 Book reviews: Informetrics.
He is the chief librarian and the leader of a bibliometrics research project at Limburg Universitair Centrum University Library as well as a professor at the University of Antwerp.
Though both books belong to the field of informetrics they are quite different from the point of view of goals, presentation and style.
The main audience the book addresses is, without any doubt, the informetrics community and information scientists, as well as others interested in power laws, who may be as varied as physicists or sociologists and economists.

Seminar paper: Informetrics for informed decision making   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
The presented techniques and methodologies based on the application of informetric analyses are useful for information provision aimed to support "informed decision making": it is to trace those trends and developments in society, science, and business, which are not directly visible.
The Center for Informetric Studies in Copenhagen has carried out several methodological studies in the last 5 years demonstrating the use of these techniques in the context of library and information science related areas (Hjortgaard and Ingwersen, 1996; Ingwersen and Hjortgaard 1997; Wormell 1998a, 2000a, 2000b, 2000c, 2001a).
This aims to illustrate the scope and nature of informetric analyses, text and data mining techniques, where the downloaded bibliographic data is integrated with other types of information in a strategic mix.

The emerging field of Informetrics is described in a historical perspective as a sub-field of Bibliometrics.
It is also an appeal to modern LIS professionals to face the challenge of this new area of quantitative studies, and learn to explore the databases not only as a registry but also as tool to carry out analytical work.
The possibilities for LIS professionals to raise the level of their positions in the information work hierarchies are emphasised, as well as the exploration of informetric techniques to support "informed" management decisions and policy making.

Informetrics through advanced data management   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
This article considers how informetric calculations can easily and declaratively be specified through advanced data management techniques.
The article demonstrates that such data modeling and query interface enable end-users to perform basic informetric ad hoc calculations, such as bibliographic coupling, author co-citation analysis, generalized impact factors, international visibility and international impact, productivity calculations in a given area, etc., easily and often with much less effort than in the contemporary online retrieval systems.
It is shown that the proposed data modeling and query interface make it trivial to switch focus between various object types for informetric calculations.

A further indication of the growth of quantitative studies of scientific output is the founding this year of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI).

This article presents a novel user-oriented interface for generalized informetric analysis and demonstrates how informetric calculations can easily and declaratively be specified through advanced data modeling techniques.
In the interface, bibliographic data are modeled as complex objects (non-first normal form relations) and terminological and citation networks involving transitive relationships are modeled as binary relations for deductive processing.
Moreover, it is demonstrated that all informetric data can easily be broken down by criteria that foster advanced analysis, e.g., by years or content-bearing attributes.

This distribution of locations of the conferences gives opportunities for host countries to encourage and showcase scientometric and informetric research in their home institutions to an international audience.
Further, each host country has the privilege of introducing their country and its research to a range of international scholars as well as being able to invite a range of its own scholars who might otherwise not have been able to attend.
The conferences stimulate the kind of scholarly conversations that may lead to international collaboration and lead to better understanding and interaction among the international community of scientometric scholars.

Bibliometrics and informetrics are these of the library sciences, which use quantitative methods for researching the state and development tendencies of writing and information contents.
The theoretical foundations of bibliometrics and informetrics were laid on the basis of empirical research performed on the scientific writings in various fields of knowledge.
The techniques of gathering of data and its processing were changing with the advance of technology, and in consequence, the changing of information tools.

Informetrics can be understood as the application of mathematical and statistical methods to the information process in science and technology-oriented activities.
A number of theoretical contributions over the past few years in the area of innovation studies emphasize the exchange of actors in innovation systems and a shift in the division of labour between publicly funded research and industrial development of technology.
Based on a review of informetric literature in the area, the paper derives a typology of three informetric approaches to study the science/technology linkage - namely analyses of patent citations, industrial publications, and university patenting.
