Examples are the mantis shrimps and the opposum or mysid shrimps, both of which belong to the same class (Malacostraca) as the true shrimps, but constitute two different orders within it, the Stomatopoda and the Mysidacea.
Also, debates on the taxonomy of the decapods continues, and not all authorities recognise Natantia as a valid grouping, while some would place infraorders or superfamilies beneath it.
In this scheme, the members of the Pleocyemate infraorder Caridea are regarded as the "true shrimps", while the members of the Dendrobranchiate infraorder Penaeoida are referred to as "penaeid shrimps".

The infraorder Astacidea contains three superfamilies: the Nephropoidea (the commercially important marine lobsters) and the Astacoidea and Parastacoidea (freshwater crayfishes of the northern and southern hemispheres, respectively).
Similarly, the infraorder Palinuridea contains three superfamilies: the Eryonoidea (deepwater species), the Glypheoidea (a fossil group with only one living representative), and the Palinuroidea (the commercially important spiny and slipper lobsters).
The infraorder Thalassinidea consists of only one superfamily, the Thalassinoidea, which are used as both food and bait.

Spiders - The major groups of living spiders (order Araneae)
They have the spinnerets placed at the end of the abdomen, a much more efficient position for silk spinning.
Infraorder Mygalomorphae (tarantulas, trapdoor and funnel web spiders) have 4-6 spinnerets and retain the dagger-like fangs and four book lungs of ancestral ground-living spiders.
Infraorder Araneomorphae include the vast majority of spiders (such as orb weavers, redbacks and huntsman spiders).

Sauropods - Paleontology and Geology Glossary
If the dinosaur or paleontology term you are looking for is not in the dictionary, please e-mail us.
Sauropods (meaning "Lizard-Footed") were an infraorder of large, four-legged, herbivorous dinosaurs.
They were also an infraorder of the Suborder Sauropodomorpha.

Arachnids and myriapods are the main study organisms I utilize with a particular emphasis on spiders of the infraorder Mygalmorphae (trapdoor spiders, tarantulas, and their relatives) and millipedes of the order Spirobolida.
Although millipedes and trapdoor spiders are nontraditional evolutionary models they are ideal candidates for evolutionary studies because of their limited dispersal capabilities and thus tendency to become easily, and apparently quickly, isolated.
By using the insights gained through comparative morphology, molecular evolution, biogeography, ecology, and morphometrics, within the context of an explicit phylogenetic framework, I attempt to address questions regarding the pattern and process of diversification in these very interesting groups of organisms.

At the very bottom of the Decapoda page there's a link to the Infraorder Brachyura, which are the true crabs.
At the top of the Decapoda page you'll find a link to the Malacostraca, and from there you can go to a page of the Peracarida, which contains the amphipods and isopods.
Try the links in the MadSci Library for more information on General Biology.
