	The Rotary Club of Ingatestone - War Memorial
		The Parishes of Ingatestone and Fryerninghave never had a proper War memorial, such as those which can be seen in most towns and villages, and our enquiries have shown that most of the parishioners are unaware of the existence of the rather insignificant memorial at the end of Star Lane.
		The members of the Rotary Club of Ingatestone decided that a new memorial would be a fitting testament to those who gave their lives for our freedom and would be an appropriate way of commemorating 100 years of Rotary service to their communities.
		The Rotary Club of Ingatestone are exceedingly grateful to the residents of Ingatestone and Fryerning and to relatives of the fallen for their generous donations to fund this new memorial.

		The ninth Lord Petre took up residence at Ingatestone for six years and around this time a new wing was added, the buildings around the outer court were rebuilt, complete with the one-handed clock above the arch.
		It was not until the death of the 16th Lord Petre in the First World War that the family moved back to Ingatestone and his widow, Lady Rasch, set about restoring the house to its original Tudor appearance and layout.
