Capercaillie Live (April 2001) at Musical Discoveries
Anne and Ingrid have worked together since they met as part of a larger ensemble at Celtic Connections in 1996 and have performed as a duo at many festivals throughout Scotland as well as a tour of Holland in 1998 and of the Czech Republic in 1999.
Fronted by lead singer Karen Matheson, the eight person group consisted of Donald Shaw (keyboards and accordian), Charlie McKeron (fiddle) and Manus Lunny (bouzouki and guitar), Michael McGoldrick (flute, whistles, uillean pipes), Ewen Vernal (six-string and double bass) and James MacKintosh (durms) and another [currently unidentified] musician (percussion).
The Daily Telegraph wrote, "Few women fronting any kind of British band possess a voice to touch Karen Matheson's, remarkable in English but breathtaking when she draws on her Hebridean roots to sing in Gaelic." She has become a Scottish icon and is universally recognised as the finest Gaelic singer alive today.

Ingrid Pitt is quite appealing (both in and out of costume) as the vampire and there is able support from the likes of Peter Cushing (rather underutilized), George Cole, Douglas Wilmer, Harvey Hall, Kate O'Mara, and Madeline Smith.
Also included are Ingrid Pitt reading excerpts from "Carmilla" (the story upon which the film was based) and the original theatrical trailer.
Ingrid Pitt, as usual, is an asset in the title role and the reliable Nigel Green provides good support.

For this Midnite Movie double bill, MGM has paired two Richard Matheson scripted efforts, both of which have plenty to recommend them.
Matheson's script is little more than an excuse for the three horror giants of the cast to strut their stuff, but his fine writing tandems with the great cast to produce an immensely enjoyable satiric spoof of the horror genre.
And while the two films on their own would be worth a ten spot, the always reliable MGM has piled on Richard Matheson featurettes for each, as well as a Roger Corman bit on the Raven and additional photos and recordings that flesh out this incredible release.

 The Incredible Shrinking Man
Still the movie is surprisingly good because of Matheson's literate, thoughtful, and actually pretty existential script, and the image of something being hard to obtain or just out of our reach (which comes up again and again in the film) is a theme we all can identify and sympathize with.
Incredible Shrinking Man marked the third confluence of various strands of talent: director Jack Arnold was one of the pioneers of the resurgence of 3-D movies in the 1950s, particularly with his landmark film, Creature From the Black Lagoon.
Matheson was a major contributor to The Twilight Zone, and, along with Rod Serling and Charles Beaumont, was responsible for that series' vision and ongoing appeal.
