The ending for Star Trek: Nemesis gave slight suggestion that B-4 may become a replacement for Data, thus possibly becoming Data in the process and mirroring Spock's rebirth and the cryptic suggestions alluding to it at the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

 The Not So Good....
But there is one redeeming factor to this episode: a highly auspicious set of circumstances came into play which commissioned this episode ahead of the planned Q episode for this season, which would have been an all time stinker if it had gone ahead.
This season's Q episode was going to be called 'IQ Test', which involved Q, and another Q companion placing a wager on who was the superior and strongest race -the Human's, or the other race (the Talarians were one possibility that was talked about).
The TNG episode 'Shades of Grey' for instance compares with this show in regards to how uninteresting it is. On the upside in the genre 'The Quickening' springs to mind as being okay, and 'Ethics' had some interesting moments....

TechnoFILE Reviews "Star Trek The Next Generation" on DVD
The DVD release of arguably the best of the Star Trek TV series is a cause for celebration among Trekkies (or Trekkers, if you're one of those people to whom the label "geek" is more acceptable than "geik").
The episodes are presented in their original 4x3 broadcast aspect ratio, which means owners of 16x9 TV’s will have to stretch and/or zoom the picture to fill the screen, but this is better than artificially cropping the picture to make a faux widescreen.
For example, the episode “Preemptive Strike” features not only the Cardassians (though, to be fair, that particular alien race had appeared in TNG episodes before) who were the main bad guys in DS9, but the Maquis would supply one of Voyager’s main cast members.

The issue of defining elements of stellar cartography in the Star Trek universe is a thorny one, to say the least.
Star Trek producers have become meticulous about historical consistency, have improved the consistency of stardates, but continue to ignore galactic astronomy and geography.
The nearest star system to the Sun is a multiple star Alpha Centauri (brightest star in the constellation Centarus), also known as Rigel Kentauris (name given by navigators), or HD 128620 and HD 128621 (in the Henry Draper catalog), or SAO 252838 (in the Smithsonian Astronomical Observatory catalog).

This episode is a good one, what makes it work is the intensity of the emotions felt by Troi as she carries out the investigation.
