	The Commodores vs Ini Kamoze
		Ini Kamoze (EYE-nee ka-MO-zee) (born 9 October 1957 in Port Maria, St. Mary, Jamaica) is one of the few raggamuffin performers to have been successful both in roots reggae and the modern style.
		Adopting his nickname from the song title, Kamoze would become known as the "Hotstepper", from the Patois for a man on the run from the law.
		Kamoze's career after this high-water mark features the album "here comes the Hotstepper" which, while it does not match the heights of "Shocking Out" (the comeback album), is nonetheless a solid listen.

		The huge popularity of this wicked tune undoubtedly relied heavily on the inclusion of a sample of Ini Kamoze's 1984 roots dancehall hit "World A Music" with its vocal hook "Out in the street, they call it murder" lifted directly from that original recording.
		The title "Debut" refers to the fact that all the tracks are re-recorded versions of titles originally recorded for Island Records and produced by Sly & Robbie back in the eighties, which Ini Kamoze regards as "the definitive Ini Kamoze collection".
		Even though the new versions have been executed with care and the majority of the results are more than worthwhile, we have mixed feelings while listening to this collection of tunes, but that's probably because we are part of the older generation of reggae fans who are very familiar with the original recordings.
