	Inker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The inker is one of the two line artists in a traditional comic book, or graphic novel.
		After the penciller gives a drawing (or copy of the drawing) to the inker, the inker uses fl ink, usually India ink, to produce refined fl outlines over the rough pencil lines.
		The inker is usually responsible for every fl line on the page, except for letters, which are handled by a letterer.

	What Does an Inker Do?
		In other words: while the penciller must use his (or her) creativity to imagine and realize the situations put forth by the writer in the script; the inker must use his (or her) creativity to dream up a way to represent the subjects drawn in pencil and complete the artwork in ink.
		An inker has to consider texture, light source, the underlying form of an object, distance from the observer, and a few other things before putting brush (or pen) to paper.
		In general, An inker should enhance the quality (as it relates to publishing/printing, and -if possible- artistic merit) of the pencilled art-work without changing the feel or style of the work.

		For the most part though, in my humble opinion, I believe that the inker is responsible for the latter 50% of the art on that page.
		Some pencilers will argue this to the grave but others are able to put their faith in their inker and embrace what that "embellesher" brings to the table.
		The penciler should be able to swallow enough pride to let the inker do their job while, at the same time, the inker should respect the penciler and his/her work enough to know when to push but, more importantly, when to pull; to work "within" the pencils instead of "over" them.

		The only other inker who's worked over Davis's pencils is Joe Rubenstein and, though he's a capable inker, he doesn't come close to either Neary or Farmer.
		He's in the same class as Rubinstein; they're both basically workhorses who can ink a lot of stuff, although Mark Farmer seems to be doing a lot too and still doing a great job with Davis's pencils (his inks over anyone else's pencils, except maybe Adam Hughes, are fairly standard).
		Now that I think of it, I do remember another inker but I also forget who it was.
