Inky Mark (麥鼎鴻, pinyin: Mài Dǐnghóng) (born November 17, 1947) is a Canadian politician and a current member of the Canadian House of Commons, sitting for the Manitoba riding of Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette.
Mark was born in Taishan, China, and moved to the Canadian province of Manitoba as a child.
Mark accompanied his mother when she fled China in 1955, and subsequently settled with his family in the Manitoba community of Gilbert Plains.

OTTAWA - Conservative member of Parliament Inky Mark called for the resignation of cabinet minister Reg Alcock Thursday, calling him a racist for suggesting that Liberals wanting to entice defectors would have looked for someone "a little higher up the gene pool" than Mark.
Mark was born in Hoysun, China, but left as a boy to move to Canada.
As well as alleging that Mark was offered an ambassadorship to leave his seat in the House of Commons, Conservative deputy leader Peter MacKay said "a number" of other MPs in the party have been promised Senate seats or other plum positions to jump ship.

Inky Mark is popular, and is also somewhat of a centrist, allowing him to gain support across party lines.
Inky Mark should have no trouble hanging on to this seat for the new Conservatives.
He appears to be on of the more moderate members of the party and should have enough appeal to former PC voters (since he was a PC for a year or so).

Reg, in response to the Inky Mark remarks, said to the effect that if the LIEberals were to offer posts to any Conservatives they wouldn't pick Inky Mark-"they would choose someone higher up in the gene pool!"
Considering Mr Mark has two terms under his belt and has been with about 5 different parties and has done little for his constituents or country, why would the liberals want to reward him with an ambassadorship or senate seat.

In what purported to be a hard news item, CBC reporter Julie Van Dusen said, "Inky Mark stuck to his story all day", implying rather strongly that the Conservative MP was lying when he alleged that he was offered a patronage post.
Van Dusen seems surprised that Mark had not yet fessed up in the same manner that runaway bride, Jennifer Wilbanks had.
