Virgin Records is a British recording label founded by British entrepreneur Richard Branson, and Nik Powell in 1972 after a period of selling discount records via their small shop in London.
During the 1980s until 1992, Virgin Records' releases in the United States of America were distributed by WEA with arrangement from Atlantic Records.
Virgin Records was sold by Branson to EMI in 1992 for a reported £550 million.

No. 01SA205. Tattered Cover, Inc. v. City of Thornton. - April 8, 2002 - Colorado Supreme Court Opinions
The record made at the time of the hearing, nine months after the search was executed, does not reflect whether the police ever attempted to match the fingerprints found on the glassware to any of the suspects.
However, if the government seeks a purchase record to prove a fact unrelated to the content or ideas of the book, then the public’s right to read and access these protected materials is chilled less than if the government seeks to discover the contents of the books a customer has purchased.
People in Colorado have a privacy interest in their book-purchase records and, therefore, we recognize that special procedural protections must be afforded to bookstores when law enforcement officials attempt, pursuant to Article II, Section 7, to use a search warrant to obtain these records.

Just War Theory [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
In waging war it is considered unfair and unjust to attack indiscriminately since non-combatants or innocents are deemed to stand outside the field of war proper.
Similarly, those who join an army renounce their rights not to be targeted in war; the rights of non-combatants (civilians, or 'innocents') remain intact and therefore they cannot be justly attacked.
Other areas of interest are: hostages, innocent threats, international blockades, sieges, the use of weapons of mass destruction or of anti-personnel weapons (e.g., land mines), and interventionism.

The danger of intercepting innocent conversations is compounded in intelligence investigations, which are not limited to targets who are necessarily suspected of any criminal activity.
As a result, the power to obtain records must be limited in some other way in order to prevent widespread fishing expeditions into the personal records and reading habits of ordinary Americans.
It does clarify the law to ensure that libraries are not treated as “communications service providers” subject to providing transactional records about their patrons simply because they provide public access to the Internet.

We hold that the Colorado Constitution requires that the innocent bookseller be afforded an opportunity for an adversarial hearing prior to execution of a search warrant seeking customer purchase records.
Thus, we hold that an innocent, third-party bookstore must be afforded an opportunity for a hearing prior to the execution of any search warrant that seeks to obtain its customers’ book-purchasing records.
As discussed above, it will be difficult for law enforcement officials to demonstrate that their need for a customer’s book purchase record is sufficiently compelling to outweigh the harms caused by forced disclosure of the record if there are reasonable alternative means by which the officials can meet their asserted need.

In order to obtain records, the FBI was required to convince a court it had reason to believe that the person to whom the records related was a terrorist or a spy.
Current law allows the FBI to obtain sensitive personal records, without judicial approval, simply by certifying that they are sought for a terrorism or intelligence investigation, regardless of whether the target is a suspect.

Police will be able to keep DNA and fingerprint records of innocent people on file indefinitely following a landmark legal ruling yesterday.
He dismissed human rights objections raised by the appealants as "threadbare" and said the only logical reason for objecting to samples being kept by the police was that it would make it easier for authorities to arrest someone if they ever offended in future.
He said police should be able to take advantage of modern technology which "enables the guilty to be detected and the innocent to be rapidly eliminated from inquiries".

Michael Steinberg, Shelton's lawyer and legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union in Michigan, said his client's request that DNA samples be returned was based on a state law that says police cannot keep DNA records of innocent people.
Lowthian said his office is not pleased about having to turn over the DNA records, but will comply with the ruling.

The challenged provision "gives the FBI the power to obtain the most private records of innocent people, without anybody ever knowing about it," said Michael J. Steinberg of the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan, one of the attorneys who filed the lawsuit.
Several of the organizations said their members had already been contacted by the FBI for access to records and other items, relying on legal authority.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Anglicanism
Before the breach with Rome under Henry VIII there was absolutely no doctrinal difference between the faith of Englishmen and the rest of Catholic Christendom, and "Anglicanism", as connoting a separate or independent religious system, was unknown.
The abbots and priors of England in their letter to Innocent IV, in 1246, declared that the English Church (Ecclesia Anglicana) is "a special member of the Most Holy Church of Rome" [Matthew Paris (Rolls Series), IV, 531].
In 1413 Archbishop Arundel, with the assent of Convocation, affirmed against the Lollards the faith of the English Church in a number of test articles, including the Divine institution of the Papacy and the duty of all Christians to render obedience to it (Wilkins, Concilia, III, 355).
