Innoshima, the "Island City", is located in the south-eastern part of Hiroshima Prefecture, almost in the center of the Inland sea of Japan.
The big event of the Innoshima Navy Festival is used to be held in the Inland Sea of Japan, an area well known to the native people as the "region of livelihood", almost infusing the whole area with its vigor.
Innoshima is a city that developed parallel to the history of shipbuilding.

There we saw the Innoshima Navy Castle and a lot of Samurai swords.
Though rainy and overcast the two hour train ride took us along the coast where the islands were all shrouded by clouds.

We took a look in one of the many tour guides we had at our disposal and decided to head on over to the island of Innoshima, which was about an hour's bus ride away.
Much to my surprise I was able to find out which bus to take, and an hour later we ended up on Innoshima.
Sadly we were not able to figure out the bus system in Innoshima so we took a cab to the Innoshima Navy Castle.

My first weekend at home in Innoshima was a complete success!
August is festival month in Japan, and this weekend it was the Summer festival in Innoshima.
Innoshima used to be the home of a pirate naval base in the 1400s, so it probably has something to do with that.
