Eisenhorn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn is a fictional character created for the science-fantasy game Inquisitor by Games Workshop.
Eisenhorn is an Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos, and follows the doctrine of the Amalathians (though because of his relationship with the daemon Cherubael, most Puritan Inquisitors would consider him a textbook example of the Xanthite faction).
To coincide with the release of the Inquisitor game the Black Library, part of Games Workshop's publishing arm, released a three-volume account of Eisenhorn's life written by their most capable and popular author, Dan Abnett.

Zork Grand Inquisitor: PIB PC Game Review
This game did seem to be easier to navigate then Zork Nemesis, but that may be that I was accustomed to the navigation system this time around.
This game would be particularly suitable for relatively new or medium level adventure game players.
The game does include a lot of death, and a few times you have a limited amount of time in which to solve one puzzle.

Zork: Grand Inquisitor for PC video game review and cheats   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
Zork: Grand Inquisitor is the latest chapter in the Zork saga, and it brings to life all the humor and challenging puzzles which fans of the original Infocom text adventures have come to expect.
As the game begins, you learn that the Grand Inquisitor is quickly eradicating magic and any who stand in his way are being “Totemized” (a very bad thing).
The game does include a time-line poster that covers the major events in Zork history, but more extras could have easily provided a rich Zork history and background for players who missed the original games.

Deskchair Adventurer - Zork: Grand Inquisitor Game Review
Grand Inquisitor is a meta-adventure game, a game that both sums up and mocks all that's come before it.
Inquisitor's a nice looking game; not as pretty as Riven: The Sequel to Myst but at that level.
I can't say this is my favorite adventure game, which is probably Riven: The Sequel to Myst, but I will say that this is as good as any game that I've seen.

WOODEN DRAGON | Projects   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
As the name suggests, the game will take place in dark middle ages in a fictive empire, which stands on the very brink of collapse and where heretic sects, the church, nobility and knight orders fight each other.
At the very beginning of the game the Player is mandated by an unknown benefactor to lead an investigation of horrific crimes that were committed in a small border town.
Judging by the character, the script and the game design, "Inquisitor" is close to other kinds of games, such as the "classic RPG" or "adventure with significant detective elements".

Inquisitor is our first narrative skirmish game and while miniatures are a necessary part of the action, the gameplay is more akin to a role-playing game rather than a tabletop army battle game such as Warhammer 40,000.
When Inquisitor Quixos freed the people of Clanar II from the Cherubael’s domination he managed to enslave the creature and trap it in the body of one of the Clanar warriors, thus creating a Daemonhost.

All games are narrative based, using a third party Game Master to develop the story.
The game is apparently going to be released in May (WD 257 in the UK) and White Dwarf will support the releases until September (note - interesting as everyone was expecting an Easter release - guess we'll have to wait and see).
The game itself features no points values or fixed statlines, and the latter are chosen by the player (although I presume these are chosen within set limits).

MacGamer - Get In The Game   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
The game tracks the Great Underground Empire as it now becomes an oppressive and post-industrial landscape where magic is banned by the dictator and "grand inquisitor", Yannick.
The best selling point of Zork Grand Inquisitor is the overall ambient feel which serves as a focal point for the game's sarastic, punny, cleverly stupid, dumb-wittingly intelligent edge where luscious graphics, top quality sound, and solid gameplay collide like three one-armed idiots in a ho-down.
The game comes in two discs, and as goes the nature of such an arrangement, be prepared for some disc swapping.

"Inquisitor" was Games Workshop's first game in many years to come even close to being a 'roleplaying' game.
This would be fine enough were it a run of the mill roleplaying game, but being a model-based system their are more expensive things to worry about than just the £20 book.
The average "Inquisitor" game is played on a table around 4 foot square, which means that an "Inquisitor-28mm" game can be played on a surface as small as 2 foot square!

Before the game begins, each player chooses 13 cards to be his action/power deck for the game.
While the Inquisitor is present, that player may move another player from the provinces to the court, or from the court to the board.
The third advantage that the Grand Inquisitor grants is control over the limit table, a tile of six or ten (depending on number of players) spaces, upon which caballeros are placed; for that region, only the caballeros on the limit table are scored, and all others in the region are ignored.

Zork Grand Inquisitor - from CDAccess.com
The game has a very unique setup program, that fits in with the feel of the game, and to me was a neat little addition that adds a lot to whole thing.
It even orders you to register at the end or be totemized (the punishment in the game for disobeying the inquisition in which you get squeezed into a little tiny hockey puck thing).
But for those adventurers who loved and remember the old Zork games and their Great Underground Empire, it is a veritable nostalgic feast because it incorporates elements and landmarks of all the previous Zork and Enchanter stories with the same zany humor, attitude, and unpredictability that made these games famous."

 The Conclave Hobby Competition
The idea is to encourage participants to think carefully about the background of their entries, and also to turn them into the best models they can, taking the best pictures that they can.
We hope participants will be encouraged to then use these models in their games of Inquisitor and perhaps their work will inspire others, raising the profile of the game worldwide.
This is in order to exercise some degree of "quality control" over entries and to promote this excellent forum who are so kindly allowing me to use their name in association with this competition.

Anyone magical or just generally against the idea of the Grand Inquisitor is totemized, which is to say they are literally tossed into a machine and turned into a totem, which is like a thick coin or maybe a small metal hockey puck.

 Zork: Grand Inquisitor by Activision
The Grand Inquisitor, as a character, is extremely well done and probably the hi-light of the game.
Activision, despite all the window dressing, cool-whipped topping and gift-wrapping ruined the game for me. I had no faith that the rest of the game wasn't going to be as equally inane as the worst game of all time, Myst, or the other worst game of all time, Riven.
When a free game dictated by Marc Blank and Mike Berlyn (programmed by Whizzard, natch) is much, much better than the thing I dropped fifty-five bucks on, then something, somewhere is hideously wrong.

Few game franchises have survived long enough to say they started as a decades-old text game and I'd be hard pressed to name any other than Zork.
Now while I know the "white sheet of death" is a common horse to kick in the Mac Gaming industry (wherein multiplayer is promised and bragged upon all over the box but absent from the game except for a "coming soon" insert hidden in the packaging) but Zork doesn't even have the sheet.
That being said, the game does not need a multiplayer, and from what I have read on the PC side of the multiplayer coin (where it did occur in a Java form) it wasn't all that great anyway.

Four Fat Chicks -- Zork Grand Inquisitor Review
Zork Grand Inquisitor is the last (a subject bemoaned by Zork devotees) of titles in the venerable series and, for me, by far the most enjoyable.
The game has some straight built-in puzzles, but most are inventory-based, and the inventory is also designed well, with items no longer needed (with the exception of only one or two) dropping away once used so that they do not become tedious red herrings later.
The game also uses the casting of collected spells as puzzles, something I thought I'd dislike very much but came away charmed by, and I had a lot of fun with these.
