EPA: Federal Register: Fisheries of the Exclusive Economic Zone Off Alaska; Inshore/ Offshore Allocations of Pollock ...
This allocation is equal to 40 to 60 percent of the inshore quota, plus 9 to 15 percent of the offshore quota, plus 100 percent of the ``true'' mothership quota, depending on the sector allocations established under Alternative 3.
Inshore processors also have stated that they may use large catcher vessels as tenders to ferry pollock from the fishing grounds to the plants.
Inshore processors may have little incentive to bargain with small catcher vessels because any unharvested quota from this fishery would become immediately available to all inshore catcher vessels on September 1.

URI biological oceanographer examines the relationship between the inshore and offshore New England squid fishery
One of the purposes of the study was to assess whether an increase in the winter offshore fishery is causing the recent decline in the squid population inshore and, thus, a decrease in landings.
The squid caught by the offshore fishery were spawned during the previous inshore season and squid caught by the inshore fishery were spawned during the winter.
Thus, the interaction between inshore and offshore fisheries has important implications for fishery management because it suggests that conservation efforts to maintain the spawning cycle need to be jointly pursued for both fisheries.

The biology of inshore Rockfish (Cod)
Because inshore rockfish rarely survive after being caught, catch and release is not an effective management tool in protecting inshore rockfish stocks.
Quillback and yelloweye rockfish are frequently harvested as target species, but all inshore rockfish species intermingle and are impacted in the directed and by-catch fisheries.
Since all inshore rockfish species are vulnerable to over harvest and they are caught together, conservation measures will encompass all these inshore rockfish species.

BIM Corporate - Sea Fishing - Inshore
The management of the inshore fleet and the fishing activities that fall within its 12-mile zone were the subject of a report in May 1999, which examined how to increase the income and standard of living of all involved in the sector.
It was apparent from the findings of this report that industry wanted to see improvements in the management of the inshore sector and this had been demonstrated by the enthusiastic involvement of fishermen on lobster V-notching schemes since 1995.
Initially their primary role was to develop unexploited or underexploited inshore fishing opportunities around the coast but increasingly, in order to support the future introduction of a comprehensive management framework for inshore fisheries, they assisted in the collection of scientific data on the stocks and information on the fleet, fishing patterns etc.

STRATEGIC REVIEW OF INSHORE FISHERIES STRATEGIC REVIEW OF INSHORE FISHERIES
At the moment, inshore fisheries are managed centrally, and over the last 20 years this has generally been through a three-yearly review of prohibitions in place under the Inshore Fishing (Scotland) Act 1984.
With no definitive description of the inshore, it is difficult to describe exactly the extent to which management groups’ responsibilities might extend.
FRS is of course already involved in inshore fisheries work, but there are a number of more local scientific establishments with considerable expertise, and there is scope to enhance the collaboration between the relevant bodies.

Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association is a voluntary group set up to provide an emergency lifeboat service to the Bantry Bay community.
The RNLI and the Department of the Marine were approached at the time with a view to putting an inshore boat in the upper bay but they felt that the lifeboats from Valentia and Baltimore covered the bay adequately.
Although Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association is a stand-alone organisation that is completely independent of the RNLI and other rescue services, the standards adopted were those of the then Irish Marine Emergency Services (now Irish Coast Guard) and the RNLI – although certain financial restraints prevent all of their practices being mirrored.
