Buddhist Scriptures And the Pali Canon
The value to me of scriptures, is that they can validate my own experience, for it is my own experience which has to be primary.
Taking scriptures as primary to experience is, I think, a false position, leading to religion and dogma, where you believe because you are told to or because it is written, rather than from your own insight.
The scriptures that I have found most useful in validating my experiences are part of the Buddhist Scriptures - the Pali Canon Suttas, or Suttapitaka ('basket of suttas'), to be precise.

A fourth way in which Law and Gospel are confused and Scripture is misunderstood is when someone proclaims the Law to someone who is terrified by their sins, or the Gospel is given to someone who is unrepentant.
A fifth way in which Law and Gospel are confused and Scripture is misunderstood is when people who are truly repentant are taught to find their comfort in prayer or in holy living, rather than in the promises of forgiveness and love found in the Word of God or in the sacraments.
A fourteenth way in which Law and Gospel are confused and Scripture is misunderstood is when people teach that teach the doctrine of universal depravity in a way that leads people to think that even Christians are still unable to break from sin and continue to sin intentionally.

The statement heard often that the Bible is the "Word of God." All the denominational churches of the world have their own application of the meaning of the scriptures and they are as far apart as left is from right.
The scripture says that "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) and "His name is called the Word of God." (Rev. 19:13) and "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." (John 1:14).
However, concerning the scriptures it is written: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2 Tim.

Since we have the warning in scripture that there would be those coming to us preaching "another Jesus", disguising themselves as "apostles of Christ" (2 Cor.11:3,4,13-15) we need to examine Jehovah's Witnesses claims concerning Jesus Christ in the light of scripture.
Although the Father and Son seem to receive more mention in Scripture, the reason is stated in John 16:13-15 where the work of the Holy Spirit is revealed, namely to glorify the Father through the Son.
In scripture Jesus is called "God" but is also spoken of as being "with God" or the "Son of God".

Insight for Living: The Bible Teaching Ministry of Charles Swindoll:   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Some conspiracy theorists, fiction-writers, filmmakers, and revisionist historians would like us to believe that the books we have in our New Testament were selected by prejudiced or ignorant church leaders from among hundreds of competing gospels, letters, and other Christian writings that were just as good — if not better —representations of Christianity.
These are all later books written by heretical sects or false teachers, often forgeries that were falsely attributed to apostles who had been long dead by the time the books were written.
Even non-Christian scholars admit that the New Testament books we have in the Bible are the earliest and most authentic Christian writings available, and that all of the so-called “lost scriptures” are later, inauthentic writings that present doctrines at odds with the biblical view of Jesus.
