Early this century Inskip Point was the original settlement in the area and boasted a small school to cater for the children of the local timber getters and the Inskip Light Keeper.
Some of the area between Inskip and Rainbow Beach was mined for rutile, zircon and ilmenite between 1965 and 1971.
Inskip Point some 7-8 kms to the north of Rainbow township, is now predominantly known for its Barge service to Fraser Island and its picturesque camping.

Inskip Point was named by Captain Owen Stanley, the Admiralty Hydrographer and Commander of the HMS Rattlesnake in October 1849 after Captain George Henry Inskip RN naval officer who served in HMS Rattlesnake and HMS Bramble October 1846 to 1849.
Captain George Henry Inskip, born in Plymouth around 1824, was son of Peter Inskip and Harriet Palmer.
When strong to gale force winds had been bowing onshore to Fraser Island’s east coast for a few days, the view of the bar area from Inskip across to Hook Point was a wall of white breakers and these, as high as a house, crashed on to the ocean seaboard beach of Fraser Island.

When the window alone is insufficient, then close it off and switch over completely to a Speedlight or studio strobe with a big softbox.
This is starting to make more sense to me, but I think I will hold off on the studio lights until I get an even better understanding...Honestly I'd rather stick to natural light.
Do you think a flash fitted with something such as a Stofen OmniBounce or similiar might be a starting point for what he's trying to do.

I have recently heard there was a group of people at Inskip point causing trouble with other campers over the new year period.
Due to this unsavoury behaviour I have been told the authorities want to close Inskip point to camping.
Premier Pete has come up with a suggestion that they will place tighter controls on the number of campers allowed into the area and also introduce some type of permit system for the entire Cooloola area.
