Inspector Gadget 2 is silly and colorful, using broad slapstick humor and inventive gadgets or inventions which will tickle the littlest child who may still be within us all.

I was too old to be interested in the original "Inspector Gadget" cartoon series, but I did catch the first live-action movie with Matthew Broderick on cable about a year or so after its theatrical release.
The bulk of the movie's gags derive from Gadget's gadgets not working, a fact that prompts the city of Riverton that employs him to build a newer and better Gadget, dubbed G2, the "most newest Gadget in the Gadget Program." That ought to help youngsters with their English.
Both Gadgets are ably assisted by the Inspector's young niece, Penny (Caitlin Wachs), a Nancy Drew type who's a more capable detective than either of the two technologically advanced characters.

The Inspectors Gadget are once again out to foil the Claw, who’s planning a high tech crime of the century.

Edited with the cuisinart clarity of a car commercial, designed with a balloon-animal colour palette similar to that of last year's psychedelic Thomas in Love, Inspector Gadget 2 (henceforth IG2--incidentally, the on-screen logo makes Inspector 2 Gadget) has style in theory, like Avril Lavigne, but is flat and exasperating--also like Avril Lavigne.
For starters, there is the "Illustrated Gadget," wherein you select G1 or G2 for a closer look at their gadgets.
Zamm goes it alone in one feature-length yakker and joins the affable pair of Stewart and Hendrix for a second, and to be honest, these are pretty good commentaries--maybe naively, nobody's afraid of alienating the younger viewers, with Zamm calling his Gadget "quixotic" out of the gate.

Although IG2 is a bit sillier than the first movie, it's MUCH more faithful to the cartoon - once again Gadget says "wowsers!" (compared to "wowser" in the first one) and Dr. Claw (called both Claw and Dr. Claw) is faceless again.

I like Matthew Broderick as Inspector Gadget he really did a great job but as for the sequel I thought the sequel was horribly bad and the actors couldn't act.
I do agree that the first Inspector Gadget is corny but it's still fun to watch as it's based on the popular cartoon series.

Continuity: At the end of the movie where Inspector Gadget gives an award to Penny he puts it around her neck and when the camera faces her, her hair is in the ribbon and when they show her back it is out of the ribbon and then repeats itself about 3 times.
Continuity: In the scene where Penny is strapped to the cart, Inspector Gadget frees her and they both run away from the cart.
Continuity: In the scene on the bridge where Claw's Ice Cream Truck is coming toward Inspector Gadget, G2, Penny, and the Gadget mobile, the first shot shows the truck not far away.
