Some claim that software engineering is already as predicatable and reliable as many fields of engineering, such as space or biological engineering.
Moreover, other engineering fields frequently resort to a balance of factors to achieve optimization, and hence this is not an isolated problem.
Licensed software engineers must learn years of physics and chemistry to pass the exams, which is irrelevant to most software practitioners.

Brompton Bicycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brompton is one of the few major bicycle companies still manufacturing in the UK (another being Inspired Cycle Engineering).
The Brompton is a somewhat unusual bicycle, and has inspired a devoted following.
Brompton fans with engineering expertise have not been slow to improve on the bike; the most notable of these is Steve Parry whose "SP Brompton" includes a 7-speed derailleur, V-brakes, carbon fibre seat post and suspension handlebar system.

The Engineer´s Response to Sustainable Development   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Given the role played by engineering in development generally, it is incumbent on the major engineering organizations, at global, regional, and national levels, and to the extent possible, to lead and facilitate the changes in attitude, education, and practice that will foster the engineering contribution to the achievement of sustainable development.
Engineers are now expected to work in multi-discipline cooperation, selecting and fitting sustainable technology solutions to developmental problems in which the environmental, economic, social and cultural circumstances can vary widely from situation to situation, and from culture to culture.
Engineers have the potential and the duty to be a major influence in the achievement of the primary goals of the future; a sustainable habitat for all life, and one that continues to allow humankind to achieve its potential and to enjoy the process of living.

It is the foundation of the engine in your car, the jet engine in an airplane, the engine in your lawn mower, the machine in your refrigerator and air conditioner and also of the power plants which drive the generators which produce electricity for your home.
British engineers had also accumulated and published reliable data about the efficiency of many types of engines under actual running conditions; and they vigorously argued the merits of low and high pressure engines, and of single-cylinder and multi-cylinder engines.
The power source for the steam engine was considered to be steam and the efficiency of the engine was measured in terms of the amount of steam it consumed.

The first recorded usage is apparently in 1828, signifying a "three-wheeled horse-drawn carriage." Tricycles have evolved to include various forms of propulsion including pedals, steam and internal combustion engines.
Recumbent tricycles are particularly suitable for long-distance use, including cycle touring and Audax riding.
A common arrangement is to fit chopper-style ("ape hanger") front forks to a VW Beetle engine and transaxle, popular because it is largely self-contained on a single subframe.

Recumbent bicycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
At present the trike market is led by companies such as Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE) and Greenspeed, with touring being a strong market but sporting use also being common.
Hand cycles have also been used for touring, though fewer designers cater for the needs of carrying luggage and incorporating mudguards and the gear ratios of standard hand cycles tend to be less useful for long steep climbs.
Kyle and his students had been experimenting with fairings for upright bicycles, also banned by the UCI, leading in 1974 to the International Human Power speed Championship, from which the IHPVA grew.

engineering speed ross, but i can't found any information about it on the web, except that mr.
Unfortunately as Peter retired and sold the Trice to Inspired Cycle Engineering, the Speed Ross was being superceded by the low racers and semi-low racers such as the Challenge Hurricane and I presume was therefore not a really viable proposition for ICE.
As I have posted elsehwere, I do believe that Ben Cooper at Kinetics in Glasgow (www.kinetics-online.co.uk) has the patents and jigs for the speed ross, whic though it has not got the suspension of the Street Machine, is still a god basic touring machine for light and fast touring.
