| | The Engineer´s Response to Sustainable Development (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09) |
 | | Given the role played by engineering in development generally, it is incumbent on the major engineering organizations, at global, regional, and national levels, and to the extent possible, to lead and facilitate the changes in attitude, education, and practice that will foster the engineering contribution to the achievement of sustainable development. |
 | | Engineers are now expected to work in multi-discipline cooperation, selecting and fitting sustainable technology solutions to developmental problems in which the environmental, economic, social and cultural circumstances can vary widely from situation to situation, and from culture to culture. |
 | | Engineers have the potential and the duty to be a major influence in the achievement of the primary goals of the future; a sustainable habitat for all life, and one that continues to allow humankind to achieve its potential and to enjoy the process of living. |
