GIMP - for Mac OS X
A typical install, however, will require that you have a working C compiler, which Apple supplies on a companion CD to Mac OS X. The current gimp package maintainer for the Fink project is Alexander Strange.
Unlike most Linux distributions, Mac OS X does not come with the open source libraries upon which the GIMP is built.
Since the primary menu in the GIMP is accessed by a right-click in the image window, it is advisable for Mac users (who all have a single mouse button by default) to obtain a multi-button USB mouse.

It runs on Mac OS X version 10.4/Tiger and is built as Universal Binary for compatibility with both Intel and PPC Macs.
The distribution comes in a Mac OS X Installer package and is completely self-contained, there are no external dependencies beyond what is delivered by Apple in a regular Mac OS X installation.
You might also be interested in an alternate PHP Distribution for Mac OS X called MAMP which does not interact with Apple's Apache webserver, includes MySQL and which might work on older releases of Mac OS X. I am not affiliated with MAMP in any way, but have heard good things about it.

 Installer 2 - wikiPodLinux
A new installer is currently in development for Linux (WinPods only) and Windows (see here for Mac OS X).
The new installer was made possible by the rawpod library; it basically throws its own device system on top of the raw iPod device, so it can partition, format, read and write files to the ext2 partition, etc.
The installer manages your installation as a set of "packages"; each one is just a tar.gz archive that gets extracted into the iPodLinux partition, but the installer remembers what packages are installed and what files they contain, so you can remove and upgrade packages easily.

Alastair's Place: Anacron for Mac OS X
Mac OS X is underpinned by BSD UN*X; this means that Mac users, system administrators and developers all have access to a wide range of tools conventionally associated with UN*X systems.
One of the more useful utility programs found on most UN*X boxes is the cron daemon, which allows a user to schedule repeating tasks; unfortunately, whilst Mac OS X has a perfectly good cron daemon, it doesn't perform any tasks when the machine is asleep or switched-off.
Here is a Mac OS X disk image containing all the files you need; after installing the package within this disk image, you should find that anacron has taken-over processing of all the periodic cleanup tasks on your Mac.

Mac Geekery - How a Malformed Installer Package Can Crack Mac OS X
When a user opens an installer package set to require administrative privileges to install, Installer will check and see if the current user is an administer of the computer.
This demonstrates that a properly-formed Installer package could be used to insert user accounts with administrator rights and change root-owned system configuration or binary files without prompting the vast majority of Mac OS X users for a password of any kind.
Mac OS X has a powerful security framework in place to protect the users, but it's only as good as every program that uses it.

Also works with earlier version of Mac OS X. The main benefit of the Stealth Serial Port is that it provides a "native" serial port that behaves just as if it was built-in the G4 or G3 system.
With OS X, the Stealth provides that same level of compatibility - if it works with built-in serial port on a Beige G3 running Mac OS X then it will work with a Stealth.
After the Stealth OS X software is installed (requires administrator's password) and you restart your system, go to the Network System Preference and you will see that the Stealth is now recognized as "serial-port".

Mac OS X Kerberos Extras Installer Documentation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The Mac OS X Kerberos Extras package includes add-ons for the built-in Kerberos on Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3 or 10.4 that allows it to work with CFM-based Kerberos using applications such as Eudora and Fetch, and makes an alias to the GUI Kerberos management application in a more convenient location.
If the installer is run on an OS whose version is Mac OS X 10.4 or greater (a check made using a custom Gestalt, see above), this action item brings the installation to a halt before it can begin.
The Mac OS X Kerberos Extras installer calls a couple of these at the end of the install to set file permissions and owners correctly.
