An exciting trip to the center of the Earth
The results of their research confirm the "marble cake" model presented in 1986 by Claude Allègre and Don Turcotte, researchers of the Institut de physique du globe in Paris and Cornell University in the United States.
Acording to geophysicists, when the earth was divided into lithosphere, mantle and core, the ocean lithosphere was formed by the rise of basalt lava on the axis of ocean ridges, resulting from the fusion of the upper mantle.
In the "marble cake" model proposed in 1986 by Claude Allègre and Don Turcotte, from the Institut de physique du globe in Paris and Cornell University (United States), each of the "cake's" ingredients preserves its original composition.

Transversales du CNRS - Seismic and Volcanic Risks
The primary role of the "Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris" (IPGP, Paris Institute of Physics of the Globe) is the observation and study of natural phenomena, research, and teaching.
Since the observatory was set up in 1980, thirty eruptions have also been detected at Piton de la Fournaise, all of which were preceded by early warnings and warnings reported to civilian security officials.
Although it was unable to predict earthquakes, the regional seismic network in the Lesser Antilles was able to provide local authorities and the media with information about those that were experienced.

Volcanoes Killed The Dinosaurs, Scientist Argues
At a scientific conference on Wednesday, a French researcher presented a study of Indian lava fields that suggested ancient volcanic activity was intense enough to have caused the climate changes believed to lie behind the extinction of the giant lizards.
Some scientists theorize that dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago -- along with more than 70 per cent of all species on Earth -- as a result of climate change caused by the impact of a massive asteroid crashing into our planet.
That combination of dust and soot -- some estimates suggest 25 per cent of earth's vegetation burned -- would have lowered temperatures and acidified rainfall around the globe, destroying dinosaur habitat.

Geological Society of America - India’s Smoking Gun: Dino-Killing Eruptions
French and Indian geologists have now identified a 600-meter (2000-foot) thick portion of the lava that may have piled up in as little as 30,000 years - fast enough to have possibly caused a deadly global climate shift.
"Our working hypothesis is that the majority of the total volume of lava might have been erupted in only a few major events spread over only a small fraction of millennia," said Anne-Lise Chenet of the Laboratoire de Paleomagnetisme, Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP).
To test that hypothesis, the researchers have combined already known ages of the traps gathered from radiometric dating with magnetic fields frozen in the rocks.
