The Henna Page - The Encyclopedia of Henna - Henna and the Hadramaut Insurrection
The Caliph received these complaints of insurrection, and ordered the women’s hennaed hands to be cut off as retaliation for their rebellion.
The fact that the women had hennaed their hands was crucial evidence of their guilt, because the henna stains would remain on the women’s hands for some time as evidence.
With the women’s honor impugned, mutilations went uncontested, and the potential military insurrection was crushed.

Review: Star Trek: Insurrection   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
In its approach, Insurrection is reminiscent of 1986's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (for non-aficionados, that's the one with the whales), which, to date, is the only Star Trek movie to gross more than $100 million.
Insurrection is a lighter film than First Contact, with a greater emphasis on humor and character interplay than on action (although, to be sure, there is some of the latter).
Insurrection offers the comfortable feeling that, no matter how things get to that point, all will be well in the end.

Jammer's Review: "Star Trek: Insurrection" (1999)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
The film's titular "insurrection" comes when Picard and crew decide to take up arms ("Lock and load," Data says, obviously unaware he's been reprogrammed as a sound bite for Paramount Studios) and defend the Ba'ku from being forcefully removed from the planet.
The problem with this approach, however, is that Insurrection has a tendency at times to beat the audience over the head with the sentiment.
Insurrection, however, goes on fairly large detours of circumstance to arrive at goofy situational humor, and comes off as more forced as a result.

Worse still, the new speech in Insurrection is too quiet, demanding you crank the volume to hear what the new characters are bantering about, then turn it back down when they finally shut up.
Insurrection's attempt to weave an interesting story is a little too heavy-handed; mission briefings drag on far longer than they should as the various characters try and fail to draw you into the plot as they argue amongst themselves.

 Polish Insurrection of 1863–4
The repercussions of the insurrection and its failure were immense.
During and following the insurrection the regime determined to extend the practice it had begun after the failed Polish Insurrection of 1830–1 of weakening Polish influence in the Right Bank and to Russify the region thoroughly.
Despite its general antipathy toward the Poles the Ukrainian movement was called a ‘Polish intrigue’ and labeled ‘separatist,’ and some Ukrainian activists were accused of fomenting discontent among the peasantry.

One of the most vicious and probably most widespread distortions of Marxism resorted to by the dominant "socialist" parties is the opportunist lie that preparation for insurrection, and generally the treatment of insurrection as an art, is "Blanquism".
To be successful, insurrection must rely not upon conspiracy and not upon a party, but upon the advanced class.
Insurrection must rely upon that turning-point in the history of the growing revolution when the activity of the advanced ranks of the people is at its height, and when the vacillations in the ranks of the enemy and in the ranks of the weak, half-hearted and irresolute friends of the revolution are strongest.

 STAR TREK: INSURRECTION
This, the ninth big screen installment of the venerable TV show (counting the first six and a half featuring Bill Shatner and company), should only further strengthen the odd/even belief held by die-hard fans of the series (that the odd numbered theatrical installments are generally bad while the even numbered ones are good).
While "Insurrection" isn't as sterile as the big budget "Star Trek: The Motion Picture (#1) and clearly isn't as awful as "Star Trek: The Final Frontier (#5), it's certainly not as good as the earlier efforts in the series, "Wrath of Khan" (#2) and "The Voyage Home" (#4).
Not surprisingly, it shows and while die-hard fans may find bits and pieces to enjoy (and will be pleased simply by getting to see their favorite characters back on the big screen once again), the film will do nothing to lure in, or please the average moviegoer.

Philippine-American War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Philippine-American War was a war between the armed forces of the United States and the Philippines from 1899 through 1913.
This name was historically the most commonly used in the U.S., but Filipinos and an increasing number of American historians refer to these hostilities as the Philippine-American War, and in 1999 the U.S. Library of Congress reclassified its references to use this term.
One is that calling the war the Philippine Insurrection made it appear to be a rebellion against a lawful government, although the only part of the Philippines under American control was Manila.

Though there are occasional throwaway comments about the Dominion intended to connect Insurrection to the larger story arc in the Star Trek universe, and the film attempts to set up a tone of impending doom for the Federation, in truth the events unfolding in Insurrection are clearly a little world unto themselves.
There's never any real feeling that the Federation is in trouble (or that the events in the film have any effect on it whatsoever), or that Picard is putting anything more on the line for the Ba'ku than he's done for any other alien race threatened by the unscrupulous.
In the end, Insurrection is entertaining to watch, and it stood up to repeat viewing rather better than I'd expected it to.
