Interceptor was a United Kingdom game show produced by Chatsworth Television for Thames Television in 1989, and shown on the ITV network during that summer, with the last episode airing on January 1, 1990.
Principal among these was the titular Interceptor, a tall man dressed in fl, armed with an infra-red projector mounted on his left forearm (the technology for which was procured from the British Army), and possessed of an intimidating fish-eagle screech.
Here, the series gained a whole new generation of fans, and at one point even spawned discussion on Challenge's website as to production of a new series, fuelled by the channel's resurrection of the UK version of Fort Boyard.

An idiosyncrasy of the series is that the term "UFO" is usually pronounced as a word, "you-foh", and not as "you-eff-oh" as is more common with the acronym.
As with all the later Anderson series, the special effects, supervised by Derek Meddings, were of the highest quality and outstanding for their day, given the relatively limited resources at the team's disposal.
She initially has a somewhat tense working relationship with Straker, though by the end of the series they appear to have grown close and she is seen comforting him in the final scene of the final episode.

A number of suchaircraft were built in the period starting just prior to World War II andending in the late 1960s, when they became less important due to the shifting of the strategic bombing role to ICBMs.
The result is that interceptors often lookvery impressive on paper, typically outrunning, outclimbing and outgunning less dedicated designs, yet they tend to fare poorlyin combat against those same "less capable" designs.
Area defense interceptors usually of North American or Soviet origin, are designed to defend a large area of territoryfrom attack.

Shifting from what the TV series had, the menu here is a simple static piece that's split into three; one a shot of Mikaze in her flit suit, the middle a close-up of the front cover and the right a partial of the reverse side cover, all set to some of the instrumental music.
The Stratos 4 TV series was one of those gems in the rough that was easily overlooked even as it was promoted due to the particular talents of certain voice actors working on it.
With the TV series being of such good quality, the OVA series doesn't look all that much more impressive but it maintains the slick and colorful feeling of it while adding a few more CG elements in each episode than they could have done otherwise probably.

John A. Barnes on UFO on National Review Online
For those who recall the series only vaguely (or not at all), UFO was set in the early 1980s and followed the adventures of the men and women of SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization).
The series was, dramatically speaking, unsatisfying to a mass audience.
His kind of single-minded determination was in short supply in the 1970s, which may explain why the series appealed to people of a conservative sensibility.

 The Jensen Interceptor
At the time, they made Austin bodies under contract, and the first Interceptor resembled an Austin A40 (the Jensens built bodies for a string of cars that included the Volvo P1800, Sunbeam Tiger, and Austin-Healey.) The first Interceptor used a 4 liter Austin in-line six, and was produced in small numbers for over a decade.
Jensen offered a four-wheel-drive version of the Interceptor dubbed the FF; the four wheel drive system was developed by tractor manufacturer Harry Ferguson, making the FF one of the most technically sophisticated cars of its era, especially since it was one of the first production cars to have mechanical anti-lock brakes.
In addition to the 360, some 440-powered Interceptors were made, and the Hemi was under experimentation (the cost to bring the suspension up to speed, not to mention to import the practically handmade 426 Hemi, would have been prohibitive).
