 Interface Design Guidelines
Many of the designers stated that the interface used in their programs was one that evolved from a previous program, or from a prototype of the program.
Additionally, using an interface that is similar to a previous interface may mean that users of a program are looking at an interface that is familiar to them.
The field of interface design is suffering from a lack of descriptive and consistent nomenclature, so it may be difficult to describe exactly what a new or novel interface design element is. Technology is changing rapidly, and what we can do now may be obsolete next year.

Several presentations during the plenary session entitled "Novel Interface Technologies for Stimulation," which was moderated by Dr.
Wheeler emphasized the value of in vitro approaches to address fundamental and applied aspects of neuro-electronic interfaces and pointed out that not all in vitro models are equal; there are significant limitations in the use of transformed cell lines that typically fail to exhibit robust synaptic connectivity.

Mechanics and Fracture of Bimaterial Interface
Interface debonding or delamination is one of common failure modes in hybrid layered structures.
Due to different considerations of the interface displacement compatibility in each bi-layer beam theory, these joint models, among which the semi-rigid and flexible joint ones are newly developed, demonstrate three distinct levels of accuracy in predicting the crack tip deformation.
By using these two novel joint models, the new terms, which are “missing” in the rigid joint model, are recovered for the compliances and energy release rates (ERRs) of several common delamination specimens.

In a heartrending and astonishing novel, Eggers illuminates the history of the civil war in Sudan through the eyes of Valentino Achak Deng, a refugee now living in the United States.
In this book, written with expansive humanity and surprising humor, we come to understand the nature of the conflicts in Sudan, the refugee experience in America, the dreams of the Dinka people, and the challenge one indomitable man faces in a world collapsing around him.
Valentino, who survived almost 15 years of civil war and refugee-camp exile before coming to the United States in 2001, in fact does exist, but the book that purports to be his autobiography is actually a fictional recreation by Eggers.

Newscast: a novel physical interface for news reading
This is the final project for the Tangible Interface 2005 class at the Media Lab.
These applications allow users to combine content from different sources as if they create a “personalized newspaper.” While this provides a sense of organization in a sea of information, the interaction model of this way of reading news demands users’ full attention to the computer screen.
Newscast is our answer to the common problems of both traditional and modern interfaces: they are attention intensive, which makes news navigation an isolated and entirely intrusive activity.

Cat-a-Cone: An Interactive Interface for Specifying Searches and Viewing Retrieval Results using a Large Category ...
A key component of the interface is the separation of the graphical representation of the category hierarchy from the graphical representation of the documents.
A cluster-based representation can be useful for some purposes, such as getting an overview of a collection's contents, but a user interface that shows the inter-relations among documents according to their category labels (or in general, according to orthogonal semantic attributes) allows the user an alternative view of document similarity.
The interface allows users to choose from menus, or gesture-based ``gardening'' commands for growing and pruning subportions of the hierarchy, as well as keyboard accelerators and traditional buttons on the ``desktop'' portion of the workspace for specifying searches.

The Immersion Interface Box (TM) from Immersion Corp. is a small, inexpensive electronics module that connects to the serial port of any computer system and allows for the integration of a wide variety of human interface peripherals.
At Immersion Human Interface Corporation, we feel that the lack of applications which implement pedal driven interfaces for traditional computing and virtual reality applications is largely the result of an absence of consumer products for interfacing analog and digital foot pedals to computer systems.
An Interface Box programmer does not get caught up in these issues, but is instead free to think about higher-level issues such as the design of an intuitive software interface.

 Hypertext: The Interface
After all, the traditional novel's interface is practically non-existence; or rather, it is so simple and obvious to the literate being that it is not even considered.
The reader of the traditional novel almost always follows an identical path: start with the first page, and continue reading until the novel is over.
Of course, sometimes the reader may decide to return to a certain passage or section of a novel if s/he so chooses, but this is generally a completely voluntary decision.

A novel drift correction technique was developed which is unique to gaze position control and is invisible to the subject.
Assuming that the average gaze position during target selection falls at the center of the response target, we can compute drift as the mean offset between the target and gaze position at each selection.
In general, the results from the experimental tasks suggest that gaze response is intuitive and reliable enough to be practical in many psychological research and computer interface applications.
