The Liberty 's blood-stained flag is exhibited at the National Cryptologic Museum in Fort Meade, Maryland.
O n 8 June 1967 the electronic intelligence ship USS Liberty (AGTR-5) was on station in international waters 13 miles off the Sinai Peninsula in the eastern Mediterranean.
Later, despite jamming of the ship's distress frequencies, and before all her transmitters were shot away, the Liberty 's radio operators managed again to hear the attackers make a positive identification in the clear.
