  INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE ON ANTHROPOGENIC SOILS
Since Soil Taxonomy was designed primarily with naturally occurring soils in mind and with a strong agricultural bias, these underlying principles do not always seem consistent with the goals of classifying anthropogenic soils.
In the vast majority of cases of anthropogenic soils, the anthropogenic processes resulting in the present expression of morphology are a matter of historical record.
Any subdivisions of anthropogenic soils within Soil Taxonomy should be based on properties of greatest significance to their genesis in the higher categories and on properties of greatest significance to use and management in the lower categories.

A Compendium of On-Line Soil Survey Information
Soil is the thin skin of the Earth's surface where the atmosphere meets the lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and of course the anthrosphere.
The job of soil survey is to map the distribution of the different soil types, describe these types, and interpret the maps in a form that is useful for land management and ecosystem studies.
The internet revolution has also affected soil survey: information on the institutes that carry out soil surveys, their methods and techniques, soil classification systems, models, and interpretations from all over the World are at your disposal....

 BENZOIC ACID AND SODIUM BENZOATE
Anthropogenic releases of benzoic acid and sodium benzoate into the environment are primarily emissions into water and soil from their uses as preservatives.
From their physical/chemical properties, benzoic acid and sodium benzoate emitted to water and soil are not expected to volatilize to the atmosphere or to adsorb to sediment or soil particles.
Other anthropogenic releases of benzoic acid and sodium benzoate into the environment are emissions into water and soil from their uses as preservatives in food, toothpastes, mouthwashes, dentifrices, and cosmetics.

A lack of political will at the national and international levels and the dominance of multinational corporations have been, and continue to be overwhelming forces for indigenous populations to contend with.
The main international actors comprise the World Bank, other funding agencies, and consultants, whereas key actors in the partner countries are the development co-operation authorities, water management institutions, water user interest groups, and the public.
At the international level, this change affects the historical 'unity of the Nile Valley' (deemed to be between the Sudan and Egypt) that was preserved and regulated by the sustenance of the old demographic-political map.

A Compendium of On-Line Soil Survey Information : Classification
Soil Taxonomy was designed to group soil series in the USA in increasingly-general interpretive groups, whereas World Reference Base and its predecessor FAO Legend were designed to understand and organize world soil geography.
Soil classification was once closely tied to the presumed genesis of the soil, but this has been replaced with observable properties; however these often have a strong genetic link.
Soils are classified directly by a chosen set of characteristics that are thought to relate directly to a certain use or group of uses.

 ICOMANTH Tour '98
Numerous papers and poster papers were given on a wide selection of anthropogenic soil conditions, proposed classification systems, and alternatives throughout the U. and in the four international countries.
The consensus of all participants and others involved with the workshop was that this workshop on anthropogenic soils advanced the importance of soils modified by human activities.
All participants were part of four working groups that met during the evenings and spare moments to address issues concerning anthropogenic soils and provided a summary of their recommendations at the closing session.

 2. Urban Soil Mapping and Inventory | NRCS Soils
The soil properties chosen for the urban database depend on the landuse and intensity of use planned by customers in urban areas.
When soil properties are gathered that are not yet used in surveys nationwide, the tables interpreting the suitability of those soils for new uses may be called maverick tables while they are still generated manually from a database external to NASIS.
The urban soils community can and should contribute to the work of ICOMANTH because urban soils are found worldwide and are an area of great concern for world food supply and sustainable drinking water supply, as well as aesthetics and recreation.

The centerpiece of this study is a detachable chart that provides a ranking of 126 countries by their 1990 per capita emissions of industrial carbon dioxide, along with benchmarks of atmospheric stability at current and projected future population sizes.
Conclusions are derived from papers presented at the Seminar on Population and Deforestation in the Humid Tropics held by the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) and Associacao Brasileira de Estudos Populacionais in Campinas, Brazil in 1992.
The consensus achieved among 180 countries at that meeting signaled international acceptance of a broader approach to dealing with population issues that includes responsible economic development, the education and empowerment of women, and quality family planning and reproductive health care.

These results confirm that some complex, bioaccumulating organohalogens distributed throughout ecosystems of the world are produced by living organisms via natural processes and that the presence of chlorine or other halogens in a chemical does not automatically cause it to be particularly potent or have unique toxicity characteristics.
