Open Letter to the International Communist Current   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
So terrified were the ICC at the threat that Chenier and his fraction constituted (and it is as well to mention here that this writer was never a member of it) that they felt they had to smash him completely by denouncing him as a police agent.
For months now the press of the ICC has been full of the most bizarre stuff about the historical mission of Freemasonry to destroy the proletarian movement and how this is still being used by the bourgeois state to destroy the ICC.
Your desperate attempts to seek historical parallels in the First International and the discussions within Russian Social Democracy, besides exhibiting an appalling ignorance of both historical situations, lead you to the inescapable argument that Bakunin was a conscious agent of the bourgeois state and that Martov was probably a police spy.

Communist Workers Oganisation (CWO), the section in Britain of the International Bureau for the Revolutionary Party or IBRP): all of them emerged following the rebirth of revolutionary ideas in 1968 and all took part in the regroupment discussions which took place in the early 1970s.
However World Revolution, which contained ex-members of Solidarity was the only group to merge with the ICC in 1975.

A short history of the international communist left
The foundation of the communist Party of Italy in 1921, was connected with the struggle of tendencies within the old socialist Party on the issue of the imperialist War of 1915-1918, and the question of the Russian revolution.
The split was created by the decision of the Communist International at the Congress of June 1920, which demanded of all the parties the adoption in theory and practice of a precise communist and revolutionary programme, as well as the exclusion of all those raising themselves in opposition to this doctrine and politics.
The Communist Party of Italy rejected the idea of the united anti-fascist front with the other proletarian political groups whose responsibility was too grave in the crisis of the Italian workers' movement and whose treachery was obvious and continuing.

Conditions of admission to the Communist International, 1920
The Communist International is threatened by the danger of being watered down by elements characterized by vacillation and half measures, forces which have not yet finally discarded the ideology of the Second International.
The parties that wish to belong to the Communist International have the obligation of recognizing the necessity of a complete break with reformism and 'centrist' politics and of spreading this break among the widest possible circles of their party members.
In the process the Communist International and its Executive Committee must, of course, in the whole of its activity, take into account the differing conditions under which the individual Parties have to fight and work, and only take generally binding decisions in cases where such decisions are possible.

John Maclean and the Communist International   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
THE WORLD communist movement, with it the communist parties of every land, the British included, was launched with the founding of the Communist International, in the Old Courts of Justice, a building within the Kremlin tall at Moscow, erected in the time of Catherine the Great.
The Communist International, it is too frequently forgotten, was a unitary organisation, a single world party, its headquarters in Russia, its national sections, the CPGB, the PCF, the PCI, the CPUSA no more than local branches of a single unitary political organisation, conforming to a single world discipline.
The attempt to build the Communist International as a single world party, no different in structure and policy in Tashkent than in Tokyo, in Novosibirsk than in New York, in Moscow than in Madrid, in the Caucasus than on Clydeside, was doomed to failure from the first.

 For A New Communist International
In the course of this fight the Communist International was forged in 1919, a Communist International that everywhere became the champion of the poor, the weak, the oppressed toilers.
In all of their attacks against the socialists, the Communists forgot that the mass of workers were still behind the socialists and that it was necessary, not by means of ultimatums and threats but by means of patient work, to convince the socialist workers that the Socialist Party had betrayed them.
So, because the Communists split the ranks of the workers, directed their fire against the socialists instead of against the fascists, and actually united at times with the fascists against the socialists, the fascists were able to take over power and destroy both socialists and Communists.

The strategy to block the rise of any potential rivals, and even the use of unilateral military action to support the implementation of that strategic goal is an orientation shared by all major factions of the American ruling class.
In the post-Cold War period, the disappearance of the imperialist confrontation with a rival bloc, which was the basis of that international discipline, has made it more difficult for the US to get other imperialisms to sacrifice their own interests and submit to American diktat.
The current criticism of Bush's unilateralism is premised on the contention that his administration has used the wrong tactics and abandoned prematurely efforts to get the European powers to endorse the US invasion.

Although active in the Bolshevik-led (Third) Communist International, Bordiga was critical of its tactics, denouncing electoral politics and the policy of working with those very socialist parties that had supported the bloodbath of 1914-1918 and the subsequent repression of revolutionary movements in Germany and elsewhere.
We have taken the view that there is little danger of a Bordiga personality cult 30 years after his death, and that his ideas represent a distinctive current that needs to be named in order to act as a point of reference for discussion [2].
We could say that capitalism itself is an ongoing disaster for humans and the environment, measured not just in death and destruction but in the lost potential of life subordinated to the rhythms of capital.
