The International Federation of BodyBuilders (IFBB) is a bodybuilding organization founded in 1946 by Ben and Joe Weider.
In November 2004, the IFBB congress voted to change the long name of the organisation to the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness.
Until the 1940s the bodybuilding scene was controlled by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

Bodybuilding is the process of developing muscle fibres through the combination of weight training, increased caloric intake, and rest.
The general strategy adopted by most present-day competitive bodybuilders is to make muscle gains for most of the year (known as the "off-season") and approximately 3-4 months from competition attempt to lose body fat (referred to as "cutting").
Bodybuilders usually split their food intake for the day into 5 to 7 meals of roughly equal nutritional content and attempt to eat at regular intervals (normally between 2 and 3 hours).

Bahamas Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation President Danny Sumner said Wednesday that a male from New Providence and a female from Grand Bahama tested positive at the August 3 national championships.
Fortunately, neither of the athletes were named to this year's Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championships squad which will compete October 28-30 in Georgetown, Guyana.
