International Hockey League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The International Hockey League (IHL) was a professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada from 1945 to 2001.
The IHL was originally a semi-pro league based around the Great Lakes and traditionally based in smaller cities such as Fort Wayne, Grand Rapids, Flint, Toledo, Muskegon and Port Huron.
With the loss of subsidized salaries, high expansion fees (by the end the league was charging as much as $8 million US for new teams), exploding travel costs and the NHL itself moving into some of its markets, the league's overexpansion proved a critical strain, and it folded after the 2001 season.

The International Monetary Fund defines Globalization (or globalisation) as “the growing economic interdependence of countries worldwide through increasing volume and variety of cross-border transactions in goods and services, free international capital flows, and more rapid and widespread diffusion of technology”.
Critics of international investment contend that by accepting these financial schemes a country loses its economic sovereignty and may be forced to set policies that are contrary to its citizen's interests or desires.
Also, many note that such features, including the increase in international trade and the greater role of multinational corporations, are not as deeply established as they may appear.
