 Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Its Preamble acknowledges the importance of a human rights legal framework to maintaining international peace and security, stating that recognition of the inherent dignity and equal and inalienable rights of all individuals is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
The first two articles lay the universal foundation of human rights: human beings are equal because of their shared essence of human dignity; human rights are universal, not because of any State or international organization, but because they belong to all of humanity.

A draft European Convention on recognition of the legal personality of international non-governmental organisations was adopted by the European Committee on Legal Cooperation (CDCJ) at its meeting of 25-29 June 1984.
Neither of these two international instruments ever entered into force, mainly because of the complex problems which arise in respect of the recognition of foreign commercial companies.
