International trade law should be distinguished from the broader field of international economic law.
The latter could be said to encompass not only WTO law, but also law governing the international monetary system and currency regulation, as well as the law of international development.
International trade law is based on theories of economic liberalism developed in Europe and later the United States from the 18th century onwards.

International trade is a complicated area of law to research because there are numerous levels of trade organizations and interactions.
The ASEAN Free Trade Area was initiated in January 1992 with the intent of reducing comprehensive tariff reduction in the region.
Since the purpose of the Model Law was to assist in developing uniformity of national laws on international arbitration, the authors of this volume determined that it would be useful to create a resource that would bring together the decisions of the various countries applying the provisions of the Model Law.

Trade and Related Agreements (Trade Compliance Center, U.S. Dept. of Commerce).  Contains the texts of most trade agreements to which the United States is a party and related documents that are important to business.  Documents are arranged by agreement or treaty title, by country/signatory, and by issue.
Institute for International Economics.  IIE is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution devoted to the study of international economic policy.  The site offers a wealth of working papers, policy briefs, speeches and testimony, and hot topic information.  See the “Areas of Expertise” section for a listing of the experts affiliated with the Institute.

International Trade Law Project (U. of Tromso) - This is by far the best site for general legal information on international trade.You can use its searchable database as a starting point.
Private International Law (T.M.C. Asser Institute) - It is to be hoped that the Web site of this well known and very important institution can be improved very soon (for example, too many external links do not work, there is not yet a collection of the English texts of the Hague Conventions on P.I.L).

Under these circumstances, there is a clear need for the rigorous graduate-level legal education in the area of international trade law, international commercial law and international investment which this program seeks to meet.
The Center's methodology contemplates analysis of the various laws and regulations as written, the "living law" -- how the law operates in practice -- consultation with government and private practitioners as to what changes are needed, and drafting of recommendations, new legislation, regulations or uniform rules.
Applications for admission to the program are welcomed from graduates of ABA approved law schools in the United States, and from foreign graduates of law faculties approved or accredited in their home countries.

The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) has the general mandate to further the progressive harmonization and unification of the law of international trade.As for most UN bodies the information provided is rather "arid" but still it is interesting to see how those commissions work.

The State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) has issued its 2006 "Defense Trade Overview", which contains a summary of current defense trade control laws and regulations and a summary of the defense licensing activity in fiscal year 2006.
DDTC provided support for law enforcement agencies that initiated criminal actions pursuant to the Arms Export Control Act and ITAR, resulting in 119 arrests, 92 indictments and 60 convictions.
