Interpol is governed by a general assembly that meet once a year and make decisions regarding strategy and policy, each member country has a single vote and the delegates are made up of individuals appointed by the relevant member government.

Interpol concert review, Metro, Chicago, IL Jan. 12, 2003
Enter Interpol, the latest rock and roll based quartet to be hatched out of New York, who not only represent a modern day example of a hard working, respect worthy underground band, but are also are revitalizing all that was hip and hallowing from their retro past.
Instead, Interpol is focusing on the Brit pop/punk era that birthed the likes of Joy Division and The Smiths and its subsequent cultivation of folks like The Psychedelic Furs.
There was no ruckus reeking havoc, unnecessary jumping up and down, or contrived patronizing of the crowd on Interpol's part, as they simply let an outpouring of genuine energy seep through their dozen song set.

Interpol are one of several bands who have surfaced among the current of new-wave inspired guitar bands in the last couple of years- (Franz Ferdinand et al), but before dismissing this group as yet more cleverly marketed retro-chic for "forty-quid bloke", it should be pointed out that this debut album is mighty impressive.
But despite this, all these influences are filtered through Interpol's New York sensibility, and the album is a very consistent set of songs with plenty of highlights.
